TFF2 miRNA expression in Mus musculus

ABSTRACT: The aim of the study was to investigate whether the trefoil peptide genes, in concerted action with a miRNA regulatory network, were contributing to nutritional maintrenance. Using a Tff2 knock-out mouse model, 48 specific miRNAs were noted to be significantly deregulated when compared to the wild type strain. n = 6 mus musculus wild type samples and n = 6 knock-down experiments have been screened for a currently known mus musculus miRNAs and validated by TaqMan

Peripheral profiles from patients with cancerous and non cancerous lung diseases

Project description:This project analyzes peripheral miRNA blood profiles of patients with lung diseases. Since miRNAs are known to be valuable diagnostic markers we asked whether respective patterns of lung cancer patients and COPD patients can be detected in peripheral blood samples rather than in biopsies. The project aimed at an impoved understanding of complex profiles rather than single markers. Thus, a high-throughput technique was necessary, profiling all known miRNAs integratively. n = 19 normal controls, n = 28 lung cancer patients and n = 24 COPD samples have been screened for the complete miRNA repertoire. Please note that each miRNA has been measured in seven replicates and the median of the replica has been computed.

Melanoma Cancer miRNA Blood Profiles

Project description:This project analyzes peripheral blood profiles of melanoma cancer patients. Since miRNAs are known to be valuable diagnostic markers we asked whether respective patterns of melanoma patients can be detected in peripheral blood samples rather than in biopsies. Top markers have been validated by using qPCR. n = 22 normal controls and n = 35 melanoma cancer samples have been screened for the complete miRNA repertoire. The melanoma samples have been collected by two clinicians using the same procedure. Contrasting patterns of expression divergence in early and late stages of population divergence in mice

Project description:We compared gene expression differences in the polytypic species complex Mus musculus (Mus musculus musculus, Mus musculus domesticus, Mus musculus castaneus and Mus musculus ssp) with that of Mus spretus via oligonucleotide microarrays representing more than 20,000 genes. Analysis of the results by two way ANOVA statistics suggests that the most genes with significant differences in expression levels among the subspecies are found in liver and kidney and the least in testis. This picture is different when one compares with Mus spretus, where the largest number of differences is found in testis. Keywords: multi-species comparison
