Smooth Muscle Cells

ABSTRACT: This set contains 68 arrays of two series of experiments. 60 arrays are used to profile the heterogeneity of SMCs from different anatomic locations. 8 arrays are used to profile the change of gene expression of vascular smooth muscle cells upon serum exposure. An all pairs experiment design type is where all labeled extracts are compared to every other labeled extract. Keywords: all_pairs Using regression correlation

Smooth muscle is present in a wide variety of anatomical locations, such as blood vessels, various visceral organs, and hair follicles. Contraction of smooth muscle is central to functions as diverse as peristalsis, urination, respiration, and the maintenance of vascular tone. Despite the varied physiological roles of smooth muscle cells (SMCs), we possess only a limited knowledge of the heterogeneity underlying their functional and anatomic specializations. As a step toward understanding the in  ...[more]
