Sex specific gene expression patterns and array optimization in liver tissue of the Antarctic eelpout Pachycara brachycephalum

ABSTRACT: Custom Gene Expression Microarray, 2x105K. The array was designed based on a cDNA library of the Antarctic eelpout, Pachycara brachycephalum (BioProjectID PRJNA82979 / NCBI Sequence Read Achive SRA049761). It was built to test probes (if possible 6 probes are designed per sequence in the cDNAlibrary: 3 were spotted in sense, 3 others in antisense direction) for the generation of a compact species-specific custom array. As the cDNA library was composed of liver and heart transcriptomic sequences, we also included both tissues in this study. Here a we investigated sex-specific expression patterns in liver by hybridizing liver RNA against a reference pool composed of liver and heart RNA.
