Transcription profiling by array of haploid yeast segregants that are genomically characterized to investigate their time-dependent response to rapamycin

ABSTRACT: We profiled the time-dependent expression levels of a set of 95 genomically characterized haploid yeast segregants in response to rapamycin. They were derived from two genetically diverse parental yeast strains, BY4716 and RM11. Both parental strains have been sequenced. Our goal is to capture widespread transcriptional changes over time, and to leverage on both the temporal and genetic variations to construct regulatory networks.

ORGANISM(S): Saccharomyces cerevisiae

The inference of regulatory and biochemical networks from large-scale genomics data is a basic problem in molecular biology. The goal is to generate testable hypotheses of gene-to-gene influences and subsequently to design bench experiments to confirm these network predictions. Coexpression of genes in large-scale gene-expression data implies coregulation and potential gene-gene interactions, but provide little information about the direction of influences. Here, we use both time-series data and  ...[more]
