Transcriptome sequencing of tomato


ABSTRACT: Gene expression of all tomato genes was determined by replicated (two biological replicates of each tissue) strand-specific Illumina RNA-Seq of root, leaf, flower (2 stages) and fruit (6 stages). Note: Samples in SRA were assigned the same sample accession. This is incorrect as there are different samples, hence “Source Name” was replaced with new values. Comment[ENA_SAMPLE] contains the original SRA sample accessions.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is a major crop plant and a model system for fruit development. Solanum is one of the largest angiosperm genera and includes annual and perennial plants from diverse habitats. Here we present a high-quality genome sequence of domesticated tomato, a draft sequence of its closest wild relative, Solanum pimpinellifolium, and compare them to each other and to the potato genome (Solanum tuberosum).
