Expression profiles of parathyroid glands from healthy pigs challenged by fetal and postnatal dietary interventions
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) are essential micronutrients that are linked to a wide set of biological processes. A deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms of Ca- and P-utilization in sows and their offspring could help to reduce the environmental impact. Parathyroid glands play an important role in P utilization. The experimental design comprises nine dietray groups, which differ in maternal and post-weaning mineral P content. Transcriptome profiles of parathyroid glands were assessed by mRNA sequencing of in total 63 animals (sampling age of 120 days) to approximate the consequences of variable P supply.
