Complete Genome Sequence of New Cronobacter-Specific Bacteriophage Dev_CS701.

ABSTRACT: Cronobacter is a ubiquitous Gram-negative bacterium linked with serious infections. In this report, we describe the characterization of Cronobacter phage Dev_CS701, which was isolated from wastewater. Related to phages belonging to the Straboviridae family and Pseudotevenvirus genus, such as vB_CsaM_IeB, Dev_CS701 contains 257 predicted protein-coding genes and a tRNA gene.

Complete genome sequence of Cronobacter sakazakii bacteriophage CR3.

Project description:Due to the high risk of Cronobacter sakazakii infection in infants fed powdered milk formula and the emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains, an alternative biocontrol agent using bacteriophage is needed to control this pathogen. To further the development of such an agent, the C. sakazakii-targeting bacteriophage CR3 was isolated and its genome was completely sequenced. Here, we announce the genomic analysis results of the largest C. sakazakii phage known to date and report the major findings from the genome annotation.

Complete genome sequence of Cronobacter sakazakii bacteriophage vB_CsaM_GAP161.

Project description:Cronobacter sakazakii is an opportunistic pathogen that causes infant meningitis and is often associated with milk-based infant formula. We have fully sequenced the genome of a newly isolated lytic C. sakazakii myovirus, vB_CsaM_GAP161, briefly named GAP161. It consists of 178,193 bp and has a G+C content of 44.5%. A total of 277 genes, including 275 open reading frames and two tRNA-encoding genes, were identified. This phage is closely related to coliphages RB16 and RB43 and Klebsiella pneumoniae phage KP15.

Complete genome sequence of Cronobacter sakazakii temperate bacteriophage phiES15.

Project description:While most phage genome studies have been focused on the virulent phages, the inducible temperate bacteriophage genome study provides more detailed information about the interaction between the host strain and the phage. To study this interaction in detail, UV-induced phiES15 bacteriophage was isolated from the host strain Cronobacter sakazakii ES15 and its genome was completely sequenced. Here we announce the genome sequence of phiES15 and report major findings from the annotation.

Complete Genome Sequence of the Streptomyces-Specific Bacteriophage BRock.

Project description:The complete genome sequence of the unique virulent bacteriophage BRock, isolated from compost on Streptomyces sp. strain SFB5A, was determined. BRock is a myovirus with a 112,523-bp genome containing a GC content of 52.3%. There were 188 protein-coding genes predicted, including structural and enzymatic proteins, but none predicted for lysogeny. Twenty-nine tRNAs were predicted.

Complete genome sequence of IME11, a new N4-like bacteriophage.

Project description:N4-like bacteriophages are a class of virulent Podoviridae phages for which few genome sequences are present in GenBank. IME11, a novel lytic Escherichia bacteriophage with a wide host range, was isolated, and the whole genome was sequenced. It has a circular double-stranded DNA genome of 72,570 bp. Genomic analysis showed that it resembles another Escherichia phage, vB_EcoP_G7C. Here we announce its complete genome and major findings from its annotation.

Project description:We present the draft genome sequence of Pectobacterium atrosepticum strain PB72 infecting potatoes in Russia. PB72 is similar to the previously reported strain 21A. Considering potential biocontrol of this pathogen, an infectious bacteriophage was isolated and characterized. Phage vB_PatP_PP90 is a lytic podovirus of narrow host range belonging to the KP34virus genus.

Complete Genome Sequence of Microbacterium Bacteriophage Erla.

Project description:We characterized the complete genome sequence of Siphoviridae bacteriophage Erla, an obligatory lytic subcluster EA1 bacteriophage infecting Microbacterium foliorum NRRL B-24224, with a capsid width of 65 nm and a tail length of 112 nm. The 41.5-kb genome, encompassing 62 predicted protein-coding genes, is highly similar (99.52% identity) to that of bacteriophage Calix.
