<i>Plasmodium vivax</i> is the most widespread cause of malaria, especially in subtropical and temperate regions such as Asia-Pacific and America. <i>P. vivax</i> lactate dehydrogenase (PvLDH), an essential enzyme in the glycolytic pathway, is required for the development and reproduction of the parasite.
