ABSTRACT: Portal venous gas (PVG) is rare. When PVG is seen, mesenteric ischemia should be differentiated. US is accurate in the diagnosis of mesenteric ischemia, but the value depends on various condition. Physicians should be familiar with findings of PVG and mesenteric ischemia to aid in appropriate management.
