Project description:BackgroundThe global prevalence of stroke has been increasing. Motor dysfunction is observed in approximately 55 to 75% of stroke patients, with upper limb impairment affecting around 85% of them. Following upper limb dysfunction, the body's recovery time is not only slower compared to the lower limbs, but the restoration of its fine motor skills is significantly more challenging, greatly impacting the daily lives of patients. Consequently, there is an increasing urgency for study on the upper limb function in stroke.MethodsA search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) database for material published from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2023. We included all relevant literature reports and conducted an analysis of annual publications, countries/regions, institutions, journals, co-cited references, and keywords using the software packages CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix R. Next, we succinctly outlined the research trends and hotspots in post-stroke upper limb dysfunction.ResultsThis analysis comprised 1,938 articles from 1,897 institutions, 354 journals, and 53 countries or regions. A yearly rise in the production of publications was noted. The United States is the foremost nation on the issue. Northwestern University has the most amounts of papers compared to all other institutions. The journal Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair is a highly significant publication in this field, with Catherine E. Lang serving as the principal author. The majority of the most-cited references focus on subjects such as the reliability and validity of assessment instruments, RCT of therapies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. The intervention measures primarily comprise three types of high-frequency phrases that are related, as determined by keyword analysis: intelligent rehabilitation, physical factor therapy, and occupational therapy. Current areas of focus in research include randomized clinical trials, neurorehabilitation, and robot-assisted therapy.ConclusionCurrent research has shown a growing interest in studying upper limb function assessment, occupational therapy, physical therapy, robot-assisted therapy, virtual reality, brain-computer interface, telerehabilitation, cortical reorganisation, and neural plasticity. These topics have become popular and are expected to be the focus of future research.

Project description:BackgroundThe field of rehabilitation medicine plays an essential role in the comprehensive management of osteoporosis and its consequences. The benefits of therapeutic exercise are increasingly being recognized in this area, which receives an increasing number of publications. this study was designed to comprehensively identify collaborative networks, parse and track research trends, spotlight present hotspots, and accurately predict frontiers and focus on the health topics related to osteoporosis rehabilitation.MethodsThis research adopted computer retrieval of osteoporosis rehabilitation-related research published in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) from inception to June 14, 2022. The bibliometric visualization and comparative analysis involving countries, institutions, journals, authors, references, and keywords were performed using the CiteSpace and VOSviewer software.ResultsA total of 3,268 articles were included, and the number of articles published each year has demonstrated a steady increase. The United States and the University of Melbourne were the highest productive country and institution, with 1,325 and 87 articles, respectively. The journal of osteoporosis international has published the greatest number of articles, with 221 publications, and the journal of bone and mineral research ranked first in the co-citation counts (cited by 11,792 times). The most productive and highly-cited authors were Heinonen A and Cummings S, with 35 publications and 680 citations.ConclusionsAt present, "physical activity," "weight bearing exercise," "muscle strength," "whole body vibration," "postmenopausal women," "older women," children, men are the noteworthy research hot topics. Future research that focus on the major modes and parameters of physical activity/exercise for osteoporosis (including whole body vibration, weight bearing exercises, resistance training), targeted multicomponent training regimens, rehabilitation therapy for postmenopausal women, older women, children and men, osteoporosis related-sarcopenia and fractures, and mesenchymal stem cells are becoming frontiers and focus on the health topics related to osteoporosis rehabilitation in the upcoming years, which are worthy of further exploration.

Project description:BackgroundAcupuncture role in stroke treatment and post-stroke rehabilitation has garnered significant attention. However, there is a noticeable gap in bibliometric studies on this topic. Additionally, the precision and comprehensive methodology of cluster analysis remain underexplored. This research sought to introduce an innovative cluster analysis technique (called follower-leading clustering algorithm, FLCA) to evaluate global publications and trends related to acupuncture for stroke in the recent decade.MethodsPublications pertaining to acupuncture for stroke from 2013 to 2022 were sourced from the Web of Science Core Collection. For the assessment of publication attributes-including contributing countries/regions (e.g., US states, provinces, and major cities in China) in comparison to others, institutions, departments, authors, journals, and keywords-we employed bibliometric visualization tools combined with the FLCA algorithm. The analysis findings, inclusive of present research status, prospective trends, and 3 influential articles, were presented through bibliometrics with visualizations.ResultsWe identified 1050 publications from 92 countries/regions. An initial gradual rise in publication numbers was observed until 2019, marking a pivotal juncture. Prominent contributors in research, based on criteria such as regions, institutions, departments, and authors, were Beijing (China), Beijing Univ Chinese Med (China), the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and Lidian Chen (Fujian). The journal "Evid.-based Complement Altern" emerged as the most productive. The FLCA algorithm was effectively employed for co-word and author collaboration analyses. Furthermore, we detail the prevailing research status, anticipated trends, and 3 standout articles via bibliometrics.ConclusionAcupuncture for stroke presents a vast research avenue. It is imperative for scholars from various global regions and institutions to transcend academic boundaries to foster dialogue and cooperation. For forthcoming bibliometric investigations, the application of the FLCA algorithm for cluster analysis is advocated.

Project description:BackgroundHypertension continues to be a global health and economic burden, conventionally characterized by a chronic inflammatory state. Macrophages are critical for the initiation, progression and manifestation of hypertension. As studies on the relationship between macrophages and hypertension increase substantially, identifying critical research areas and unraveling potential interaction mechanisms become increasingly essential.MethodsArticles associated with hypertension and macrophages in recent 10 years were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection for analysis, using Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer, CiteSpace and Scimago Graphica.ResultsAfter excluding studies that did not meet inclusive standard based on time (2015-2024) and type (article or reviews), 2,013 original articles related to macrophages associated with hypertension were included. The number of publications has been increasing annually. These records consisted of 2,013 English language papers published in 351 journals by 315 institutions or regions from 83 countries/regions between 2015 and 2024. We analyzed the co-cited references clusters to objectively outline the current state of research, including the regulatory mechanisms of hypertension, diseases related to hypertension, and the lifestyle factor. Inflammation remains one of the most popular research hot-spot. The most popular publishing journal in this field is PLOS ONE and the most prolific writer is Li, Hui-Hua. The primary keywords cluster in this field is inflammation, with the highest occurrences and TLS among the top 10 keywords.ConclusionThese comprehensive and visualized bibliometric results summarized the significant findings in macrophage-related hypertension studies over the past 10 years. Macrophages appear to be effective in the treatment of hypertension as potential targets, but further research is needed to clarify the specific pathophysiological mechanisms involved.

Project description:IntroductionFecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has gained considerable attention in a variety of clinical research areas, and an increasing number of articles are being published. It is very critical to reveal the global status, future research trends, and hotspots in the FMT research and application.MethodsWe searched the Web of Science Core Collection up to May 10, 2022, and only articles and review articles about FMT were included finally. CiteSpace 5.8.R3, VOSviewer 1.6.18, Scimago Graphica and Microsoft Office Excel 2019 were used for data analysis and visualization. The results included publication characteristics, Co-authorships analysis, Co-cited analysis, Co-occurrence analysis, and burst analysis.ResultsEleven thousand nine hundred seventy-two records were used for the analysis and visualization finally, these records were published between 1980 and 2022, and the publication about FMT is increasing year by year. Co-authorship analysis shown that the USA played a key role in this field. After data analysis and visualization, a total of 57 hotspots about FMT were produced. We summarized these hotspots and classified them into 7 grades according to the number of evidence sources. The evidence sources included top 25 of Web of Science categories, top 30 most Co-cited references, top 10 clusters of references, top 25 references with the strongest citation bursts, top 25 keywords with the most occurrence frequency, major 15 clusters of keywords, top 25 keywords with the strongest citation bursts, and top 35 disease keywords.ConclusionThis bibliometric analysis is expected to provide overall perspective for FMT. FMT has gained increasing attention and interest, there are many hotspots in this field, which may help researchers to explore new directions for future research.

Project description:Purpose: This study was aimed to examine the global research status and current research hotspots in the field of tendon stem cells. Methods: Bibliometric methods were employed to retrieve relevant data from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) database. Additionally, Citespace, Vosviewer, SCImago, and Graphad Prism were utilized to analyze the publication status in this field, identify the current research hotspots, and present a mini-review. Results: The most active countries in this field were China and the United States. Notable authors contributing significantly to this research included Lui Pauline Po Yee, Tang Kanglai, Zhang Jianying, Yin Zi, and Chen Xiao, predominantly affiliated with institutions such as the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, Third Military Medical University, University of Pittsburgh, and Zhejiang University. The most commonly published journals in this field were Stem Cells International, Journal of Orthopedic Research, and Stem Cell Research and Therapy. Moreover, the current research hotspots primarily revolved around scaffolds, molecular mechanisms, and inflammation regulation. Conclusion: Tendon stem cells hold significant potential as seed cells for tendon tissue engineering and offer promising avenues for further research Scaffolds, molecular mechanisms and inflammation regulation are currently research hotspots in this field.

Project description:BackgroundThis article employs bibliometric methods and visual maps to delineate the research background, collaborative relationships, hotspots, and trends in the study of gut fungi in human diseases and health.MethodsPublications related to human gut fungi were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, R software and Microsoft Excel were employed to generate visual representations illustrating the contributions made by countries/regions, authors, organizations, and journals. Employing VOSviewer and CiteSpace, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the retrieved publications, revealing underlying tendencies, research hotspots, and intricate knowledge networks.ResultsThis study analyzed a total of 3,954 publications. The United States ranks first in the number of published papers and has the highest number of citations and h-index. Mostafa S Elshahed is the most prolific author. The University of California System is the institution that published the most papers. Frontiers In Microbiology is the journal with the largest number of publications. Three frequently co-cited references have experienced a citation burst lasting until 2024.ConclusionAdvancements in sequencing technologies have intensified research into human gut fungi and their health implications, shifting the research focus from gut fungal infections towards microbiome science. Inflammatory bowel diseases and Candida albicans have emerged as pivotal areas of interest in this endeavor. Through this study, we have gained a deeper insight into global trends and frontier hotspots within this field, thereby enhancing our understanding of the intricate relationship between gut fungi and human health.

Project description:BackgroundParonychia is a prevalent clinical disease profoundly affecting patients' quality of life. As ongoing evolution in modern living environments, factors contributing to paronychia are becoming increasingly diverse. Therefore, a further understanding about latest trend of paronychia is imperative and pressing.MethodsA systematic literature search was performed based on Web of Science Core Collection and Science Citation Index Expanded. The search parameters encompassed keywords associated with paronychia from 1980 to 2023, and rigorous data cleaning procedures were executed to maintain the analysis's relevance and dependability, supplemented by a thorough examination of abstracts and titles. Visibility analysis was conducted with Citespace and VOSviewer tools to explore the publication trends, collaborative networks, and impactful studies.ResultsA total of 595 articles were included in this study. The annual publication trends exhibited a significant increase since 1990, reached a peak of 41 articles in 2021. Collaborative relationships among countries demonstrated strong connections, with the United States leading in both publication volume, citation records and international cooperation. Keyword analysis indicated that in recent years, a substantial body of research has concentrated on paronychia issues caused by epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRI)-class drugs, such as Gefitinib, Erlotinib, and Afatinib, in the context of tumor treatment.ConclusionIn this area, most of the recent hotspots are not focused on the basic research about paronychia due to the basic research about traditional paronychia already reached a relative mature stage. However, with the widespread clinical application of EGFRI anticancer drugs, the incidence of drug-induced paronychia is inevitably on the rise. Therefore, with the expanding diversity in the etiology of paronychia, this area deserves a multiple discipline cooperation with a much wider international communication.

Project description:BackgroundVisceral pain is a complex and heterogeneous disorder that is considered more prominent compared to somatic pain, due to its multiple and complex causes and accompanying emotional and mood disorders. Research has become increasingly extensive over the years, but a bibliometric analysis of this field is lacking. The aim of this study was to analyze global research trends in visceral pain over the past 40 years through visual analysis.MethodsWe conducted a comprehensive search of the literature from January 1981 to December 2021 using the Web of Science core database. The medical subject term 'visceral pain' was searched. We used CiteSpace and VOSviewer for bibliometric analysis and network visualization, including top-ranked authors, keywords, research collaborations, and literature co-occurrence network analysis.ResultsA total of 5,047 articles were included in the analysis. The number of articles on visceral pain has continued to grow steadily over the past 40 years. The United States (1,716 articles), University of California (159 articles), and Neurogastroenterology and Motility (276 articles) were the country, institution, and journal with the most publications, respectively. Keyword analysis showed that inflammation, visceral hypersensitivity, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), anxiety, and quality of life were the research trends and priorities in this research field.ConclusionVisceral pain-related research has received increasing attention in recent decades. However, there are still many unresolved issues in the field of visceral pain, such as the specific molecular mechanisms and clinical treatments between visceral pain and inflammation, IBD, IBS, anxiety, and quality of life, which may require further exploration based on modern scientific and technological means and more basic research, especially for the therapeutic targets of visceral pain, which may become a hot spot for future research and provide guidance for the treatment of clinical diseases related to visceral pain.

Project description:This bibliometric and visualization study provides a comprehensive analysis of global research hotspots and trends in DNA vaccine research from 2014 to 2024. By employing data sourced from the Web of Science Core Collection, we identified a total of 3,600 articles. Our analysis reveals a declining trend in annual publications. Active countries, institutions, journals, and authors were identified, with China, the Pasteur Network, the Vaccine Journal, and David B Weiner being the most prolific contributors. Keywords cluster analysis distinguished four major research directions: infectious disease and immunity, viral challenge and vaccine development, optimization of DNA vaccine delivery systems, and cancer and immunotherapy research. The literature co-citation analysis revealed four major research hotspots, including DNA vaccines for Zika virus, human papillomavirus (HPV), and COVID-19, as well as safety, efficacy, and immunogenicity studies of DNA vaccines. Concurrently, the burst citation analysis identified emerging themes, including the development of DNA vaccines for COVID-19, Ebola, and MERS-CoV, as well as innovations in antigen design and delivery technologies. This study offers valuable insights into the evolution and future directions of DNA vaccine research, emphasizing its importance for global public health and the potential to address current and future health challenges.
