Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is an inborn error of immunity due to defects in the transport or function of subunits of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase, the enzyme that generates the phagocyte respiratory burst responsible for intracellular killing of engulfed micro-organisms.
