Draft Genome Sequence of Candida saopaulonensis from a Very Premature Infant with Sepsis.

ABSTRACT: The rare fungus Candida saopaulonensis has never been reported to be associated with human infection. We report the draft genome sequence of the first clinical isolate of C. saopaulonensis, which was isolated from a very premature infant with sepsis. This is the first genome assembly reaching the near-complete chromosomal level with structural annotation for this species, opening up avenues for exploring evolutionary patterns and genetic mechanisms of pathogenesis.

Draft Genome Sequence of Cronobacter sakazakii Cr268, Isolated from Infant Powder Formula.

Project description:Cronobacter sakazakii is an emerging pathogen that causes meningitis, bacteremia, sepsis, and necrotizing enterocolitis in premature infants. Strain Cr268 was isolated from imported powdered infant formula in 2009 during routine microbial examination according to ISO-22964 ("Microbiology of the food chain-horizontal method for the detection of Cronobacter spp."). Isolate Cr268 was confirmed to be C. sakazakii by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) and standard biochemical analysis. Here, we announce its genome, which represents a new member in the C. sakazakii group.

Severe cystic periventricular leukomalacia in a premature infant with capnocytophaga sepsis.

Project description:Capnocytophaga is an opportunistic gram-negative anaerobic bacillus found in the oropharyngeal cavity of mammals and is associated with periodontal disease in humans. Sepsis, osteomyelitis, lung abscess, endocarditis, and meningitis have been reported in humans following animal bites. Perinatal infection with Capnocytophaga is infrequent and is generally considered to have a low risk of morbidity to the mother and fetus. We report a case of neonatal Capnocytophaga sepsis associated with the development of severe cystic periventricular leukomalacia.

The 2.8-Mb genome possesses 2825 protein-coding sequences distributed on 330 SEED subsystems. This strain belongs to a set of potentially probiotic Lactobacillus spp. strains used to study genetic factors related to antibiotic resistance after stress conditions, such as simulated gastrointestinal conditions. Project description:Campylobacter fetus is a Gram-negative bacterium that has caused several cases of human and animal disease. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of C. fetus MMM01, isolated from the blood of a 60-year-old patient with type II diabetes and chronic kidney disease. The sequence has a total length of 1,740,393 bp and an average G+C content of 33.1%. The availability of the draft genome sequence of C. fetus MMM01 isolated from a case of chronic kidney disease will contribute to a better understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of this organism.
