Parkinson's disease (PD) is associated with a reduction in 26/20S proteasome and mitochondrial function and depletion of dopamine. Activation of mitochondrial function with the NAD<sup>+</sup> precursor nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a potential therapeutic for PD.
