Project description:Background Glioma is the most common primary brain tumor. Traditional treatments for glioma include surgical resection, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and bevacizumab therapy, but their efficacies are limited. Immunotherapy provides a new direction for glioma treatment. This study aimed to summarize the knowledge structure and research hotspots of glioma immunotherapy through a bibliometric analysis. Method Publications pertaining to glioma immunotherapy published during the period from 1st January 1990 to 27th March 2023 were downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Bibliometric analysis and visualization were performed using the CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Online Analysis Platform of Literature Metrology, and R software. The hotspots and prospects of glioma immunotherapy research were illustrated via analyzing the countries, institutions, journals, authors, citations and keywords of eligible publications. Results A total of 1,929 publications pertaining to glioma immunotherapy in 502 journals were identified as of 27th March 2023, involving 9,505 authors from 1,988 institutions in 62 countries. Among them were 1,285 articles and 644 reviews. Most of publications were produced by the United States. JOURNAL OF NEURO-ONCOLOGY published the majority of publications pertaining to glioma immunotherapy. Among the authors, Lim M contributed the largest number of publications. Through analyzing keyword bursts and co-cited references, immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) were identified as the research focus and hotspot. Conclusion Using a bibliometric analysis, this study provided the knowledge structure and research hotspots in glioma immunotherapy research during the past 33 years, with ICIs staying in the current and future hotspot. Our findings may direct the research of glioma immunotherapy in the future.
Project description:Immunotherapy is a promising strategy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), a common and aggressive malignancy with poor prognosis. However, the literature lacks a comprehensive and objective overview of the current research status and trends of immunotherapy-related fields in NPC. We performed a bibliometric analysis of 513 original articles and reviews in English on immunotherapy for NPC from the Web of Science Core Collection database, using CiteSpace and Bibliometrix software tools. We visualized the development trend of publications, the distribution of countries/regions, the co-occurrence of keywords, the collaboration and citation of authors, the citation of journals, the evolution of topics, and the thematic map. We found that the publication volume increased sharply after 2017, with China as the main contributor and leader, the US as an important partner, and the Netherlands as a potential innovator. The research focused on immune checkpoint inhibitors and cell therapy, which were also the hotspots of clinical trials. Tumor microenvironment, immune infiltration, multicenter studies, and novel immunotherapy were the frontier topics and the key challenges for future research. CD137l-DC, lymphoma, and chimeric antigen receptor were emerging topics with good prospects. Our study provides a valuable insight into the research status and trends of immunotherapy for NPC, which may guide future research directions and clinical applications.
Project description:After severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection, a series of symptoms may persist for a long time, which is now called long COVID. It was found that long COVID can affect all patients with COVID-19. Therefore, long COVID has become a hot topic. In this study, we used the WOS database as a sample data source to conduct a bibliometric and visual analysis of 1765 long COVID articles over the past three years through VOSviewer and R package. The results show that countries/authors in Europe and The United States of America contribute most of the articles, and their cooperation is also the most active. Keyword co-occurrence identified four clusters, with important topics including the mechanism, clinical symptoms, epidemiological characteristics, and management/treatment of long COVID. Themes such as "cognitive impairment", "endothelial dysfunction", "diagnosis", and "biomarkers" are likely to be the focus of new attention in the coming period. In addition, we put forward the possible research opportunities on long COVID for researchers and practitioners to facilitate future research.
Project description:BackgroundCholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignant tumor of the gastrointestinal tract with a poor prognosis. Immunotherapy plays an important role in the treatment of CCA. This study aimed to investigate the research hotspots and trends in immunotherapy for CCA.MethodsThe Web of Science Core Collection was searched for literature related to CCA immunotherapy research from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2023, and features such as country, institution, authors, references, and keywords in the included literature were quantitatively and visually analyzed using the VOS viewer and CiteSpace software.ResultsA total of 252 English publications published between 2014 and 2023 were included. The publications were mainly from China and the United States, with Fudan University being the institution that published the most papers. The highest number of publications came from Frontiers in Oncology. The most prolific authors were Jia Fan, Jian Zhou from China and Pa-Thai Yenchitsomanus from Thailand, while the Journal of Clinical Oncology ranked first in the number of citations among the co-cited journals. In recent years, the focus of research has shifted from "immune checkpoint" and "chemotherapy" to "immunotherapy combined therapy." Currently, the research frontiers are "microenvironment," "immune cells," and "macrophages."ConclusionOur study analyzes the research hotspots and trends in CCA to provide a knowledge map of immunotherapy research, which will serve as a reference and direction for future research.
Project description:Aims: The study aimed to provide a bibliometric and visual analysis of research on abdominal pain in inflammatory bowel disease and discuss the current status, research hotspots, and future developments. Methods: We used the Web of Science Core Collection to comprehensively search the literature on abdominal pain-related research in IBD published between 2003 and 2022. The bibliometric and visual analysis was performed through CiteSpace, VOSviewer software, R language, and the bibliometric online analysis platform, including authors, institutions, countries, journals, references, and keywords in the literature. Results: A total of 3,503 relevant articles are included, indicating that the number of articles in this field has increased in recent years. The United States leads the way with a dominant position in terms of article output, followed by China and JAPAN. United States (967 articles), University of Calgary (98 articles), and World Journal of Gastroenterology (127 articles) are the top publishing countries, institutions, and journals, respectively; keyword analysis shows that gut microbiota, depression, stress, visceral hypersensitivity, and multidisciplinary approach are the hot spots and trends in this research area. Conclusion: Abdominal pain-related studies in IBD have received increasing attention in the past two decades. This study provides the first bibliometric analysis of papers in this research area using visualization software and data information mining. It provides insights into this field's current status, hot spots, and trends. However, many outstanding issues in this research area still need further exploration to provide a theoretical basis for its clinical application.
Project description:BackgroundLung cancer is a highly prevalent cancer on a global scale and its oncogenic process is driven by the accumulation of multiple pathological events. Epigenetics has gained significant recognition in recent years as a crucial contributor to the development of lung cancer. Epigenetics include processes such as DNA methylation, histone modification, chromatin remodeling, and RNA modification. These pathways lead to enduring alterations in genetic phenotypes, which are crucial in the advancement and growth of lung cancer. However, the specific mechanisms and roles of epigenetics in lung cancer still need to be further elucidated.MethodsWe obtained publications from the Web of Science databases and applied a rigorous search method to filter them. Ultimately, we gathered high-quality publications that had received the highest 100 number of citations. The data were processed and visualized by various bibliometric tools.ResultsThe 100 papers had varying numbers of citations, with the lowest being 491 and the most being 6316. On average, each work received 1119 citations. A total of 1056 co-authors were involved in publishing these papers in 59 journals from 185 institutions in 27 countries. The majority of high-caliber research in the subject of lung cancer epigenetics is conducted in advanced countries, with the United States taking the lead in terms of both the quantity of articles produced and their academic influence. The study of DNA methylation has been a longstanding research priority in the discipline. With the development of next-generation sequencing technology in recent years, research related to non-coding RNA has become a research hotspot. Future research directions may focus more on exploring the mechanisms of action of messenger RNA and circular RNA and developing targeted treatment strategies based on non-coding RNA drugs.ConclusionWe analyzed 100 top lung cancer and epigenetics documents through various bibliometric analysis tools. This study provides a concise overview of the findings from prior research, anticipates future research directions, and offers potential avenues for additional investigation.
Project description:Studying ferroptosis is crucial for understanding the mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of glioblastoma, identifying therapeutic targets, and improving prognosis assessment and diagnostic methods. While recent research has explored the link between ferroptosis and glioblastoma, there is a lack of comprehensive bibliometric analyses specifically addressing this relationship and its connection to glioblastoma. To address this gap, we conducted a thorough analysis of 225 relevant articles on glioma and ferroptosis obtained from the Web of Science database covering the period from 2012 to 2023, employing rigorous exclusion criteria. Visual and statistical analyses were performed using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, R Studio Plotting, and Scimago Graphica Beta. Our findings revealed a significant exponential growth in the number of studies during the last decade. China, the United States, and Germany made the most substantial contributions to research in this field, collectively accounting for 76.2 % of the total research output. Notably, Central South University, Shandong University, and Zhejiang University emerged as leaders in both literature production and research collaboration. Frontiers in Oncology stood out as the most prolific journal, encompassing a wide array of topics from molecular mechanisms to potential therapeutic strategies. Visual keyword analysis highlighted "tumor biology" "cell death mechanisms" and "gene expression and metabolic processes" as central themes in the research network. This study offers a comprehensive visual perspective on the global publication landscape of ferroptosis in glioma, providing valuable insights for researchers seeking to understand the current state of the field and identify potential directions for future studies.
Project description:ObjectiveThis review provides guidance and ideas for researchers through a comprehensive and comparative analysis of the present state, trends, and hotspots in the pediatric fracture literature over the past 6 years.MethodsWe used Citespace 6.1.R6 software to explore the country/region distribution, institutions, journals, keyword analysis, and co-cited references of the literature from Web of Science core database.ResultsThere are 6472 pieces of pediatric fracture-related literature, including 2962 from 2017 to 2019 and 3510 from 2020 to 2022. The country with the most papers is the United States, and US institutions and journals also have a pivotal position in this field. Research hotspots for pediatric fractures in 2017-2019: The topic with the most attention is bone mineral density leading to related bone diseases. Treatment for pediatric fractures, including supracondylar humeral fractures, Monteggia fractures, forearm fractures, knee fractures, and ankle fractures in children, is another topic of greater interest. Brain injuries and dental injuries in children due to abuse and trauma are also concerning issues. Research hotspots for pediatric fractures in 2020-2022: comparison with 2017-2019 revealed a relative decrease regarding ankle-related epiphyseal injuries, but there is a higher focus on the epidemiology of fractures in children, risk factors, and reasons for childhood trauma. We have confirmed through literature co-citations that the literature of high interest is also in these aspects.ConclusionResearchers and clinicians can quickly learn about topics of interest through authoritative journals and highly cited literature and rapidly master the current status and frontiers of the field through study, providing ideas for future work.
Project description:BackgroundGlioblastoma, one of the common tumors of the central nervous system (CNS), is prone to recurrence even after standard treatment protocols. As an innovative physiotherapy method emerging in recent years, the tumor treating fields (TTFields) technique has been approved for the treatment of glioblastoma due to its non-invasive and portable features. The purpose of this study is to visualize and analyze the scientific results and research trends in TTFields therapy for glioblastoma.MethodsPublications related to TTFields therapy for glioblastoma were searched in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database in September 2022. A bibliometric and visual analysis of publications in this field was performed mainly using CiteSpace and R software for country/region, author, journal, reference and keyword.ResultsA total of 618 publications in this field were retrieved, and 248 were finally obtained according to the search criteria, including 159 articles (64.11%) and 89 reviews (37.89%). The cumulative number of publications increased year by year, with an average growth rate (AGR) of 28.50%. The test results of Pearson correlation coefficient showed a high positive correlation between publications and citations (r=0.937, p<0.001). The USA had the largest number of publications (123, 49.60%), followed by Germany (32, 12.90%) and China (30, 12.10%). As for the country/region collaborations, the USA cooperated most closely with other countries/regions, followed by Germany and China. The degree of collaboration (DC) between countries/regions was 25.81%. The institutions with the largest number of publications were Tel Aviv Univ (10), Harvard Med Sch (10) and Novocure Ltd (10). Moreover, Wong E (18) possessed the greatest number of publications, followed by Weinberg U (11) and Kirson E (10). The DC between authors was 97.58%. STUPP R (236) was the most cited author followed by KIRSON ED (164) and GILADI M (104). JOURNAL OF NEURO-ONCOLOGY (22) was the journal with the largest number of published publications (75), followed by FRONTIERS IN ONCOLOGY (15) and CANCERS (13). The top 10 keywords that occurred frequently included glioblastoma (156), tumor treating field (152), temozolomide (134), randomized phase III (48), brain (46), survivor (46), cancer (44), trial (42), alternating electric field (42) and radiotherapy (36). Furthermore, cluster analysis was performed on the basis of keyword co-occurrence, and finally 15 clusters were formed to determine the current research status and future development trend of TTFields therapy for glioblastoma.ConclusionTTFields has been increasingly known as the fourth novel physical anti-tumor therapy in addition to surgery, radiotherapy and anti-tumor drugs. Cooperation and communication between countries/regions need to be enhanced in future research. Several studies have demonstrated the therapeutic potential of TTFields in glioma, and its application alone or in combination with other treatments has become a current research hotspot.
