Summer-diapause and winter-diapause pupae of the onion maggot, Delia antiqua (Diptera: Anthomyiidae), were significantly more cold hardy than nondiapause, prediapause, and postdiapause pupae. Moreover, cold acclimation of nondiapause pupae conferred strong cold hardiness comparable with that of diapause pupae.
