Hemiasterlin is a potent antimitotic peptide that interferes with microtubule dynamics at picomolar concentrations in cell culture. The molecule largely eludes P glycoprotein-mediated drug efflux, and an analog is currently being evaluated in clinical trials as cancer chemotherapy.
