Cadherins are transmembrane glycoproteins that mediate Ca(2+)-dependent homophilic cell-cell adhesion and play crucial role during skeletal myogenesis. M-cadherin is required for myoblast fusion into myotubes, but its mechanisms of action remain unknown.
