Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) regulates a variety of physiologic processes through essential intracellular mediators Smads. The SnoN oncoprotein is an inhibitor of TGF-beta signaling. SnoN recruits transcriptional repressor complex to block Smad-dependent transcriptional activation of TGF-beta-responsive genes.
