Fusion of a vesicle with its target membrane is preceded by tethering or docking. However, the physical mechanism of vesicle-tethering is unknown. To study this mechanism, we used eosinophil secretory granules, which undergo stimulated homotypic fusion events inside the cell during degranulation.
