ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs) are small (21 kDa), monomeric GTPases that are important regulators of membrane traffic. When membrane bound, they recruit soluble adaptors to membranes and trigger the assembly of coating complexes involved in cargo selection and vesicular budding.
