The nuclear receptor retinoid X receptor-alpha (RXR-alpha)-peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-gamma) heterodimer was recently reported to have a crucial function in mediating the deleterious effects of organotin compounds, which are ubiquitous environmental contaminants.
