The antioxidant N-acetyl-l-cysteine prevented the autophagy-dependent delivery of mitochondria to the vacuoles, as examined by fluorescence microscopy of mitochondria-targeted green fluorescent protein, transmission electron microscopy, and Western blot analysis of mitochondrial proteins.
