From broken to old: DNA damage, IGF1 endocrine suppression and aging.

ABSTRACT: Two recent reports provide new information on how DNA damage may generate progeroid changes at the cell and organismal level by suppressing growth hormone (GH)/insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) endocrine signaling. This endocrine signaling pathway is of particular interest as it is a key regulator of metabolism and longevity in many organisms.
