<h4>Background</h4>Mast cell chymase may participate in the pathogenesis of human abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), yet a direct contribution of this serine protease to AAA formation remains unknown.<h4>Methods and results</h4>Human AAA lesions had high numbers of chymase-immunoreactive mast cells.
