Catena-Poly[[diazido-manganese(II)]bis-[μ-1-(4-pyridylmeth-yl)-1H-benzimidazole]].

ABSTRACT: In the title polymeric compound, [Mn(N(3))(2)(C(13)H(11)N(3))(2)](n), each Mn(II) centre is six-coordinated in an octahedral geometry by six N atoms from four 1-(4-pyridylmeth-yl)-1H-benzimidazole (L) ligands and two azide anions (N(3) (-)). Each of the Mn(II) ions lies on an inversion centre. The L ligands and N(3) (-) anions bridge adjacent Mn(II) centres, generating a polymeric chain running along the [110] direction. Adjacent polymeric chains are arranged in a two-dimensional network parallel to the (001) plane, linked by C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

The tethering 3-bpmp ligands promote the formation of [ZnCl(2)(3-bpmp)](n) chains situated parallel to (02). Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(C2O4)(C10H7N3S)] n , the Mn(II) cation is chelated by one 2-(1,3-thia-zol-4-yl)-1H-benzimidazole ligand and two oxalate anions in a distorted N2O4 octa-hedral geometry. Two independent oxalate anions are located on individual inversion centers and bridge the Mn(II) cations into a polymeric chain running along [101]. The thia-zole ring is approximately coplanar with the benzimidazole ring system [dihedral angle = 4.19?(9)°]. The repeat unit of the polymer, Mn(2)(SO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)(tphn), is disposed about a twofold axis passing through the centre of the dinuclear unit. The coordination geometry around the Mn centre is distorted octa-hedral. Two methylene groups are each disordered equally over two positions.

Project description:The title polymeric compound, [Cu(2)I(2)(C(8)H(7)N(3))(2)](n) [C(8)H(7)N(3) = 3-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine (HIPy), where HIPy comes from the in situ deca-rboxylation of 2-(pyridin-3-yl)-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (H(3)PyIDC)], was obtained under solvo-thermal conditions. Each Cu(I) cation is in a distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment defined by two iodide anions and two nitro-gen atoms from two individual HIPy ligands. Two Cu(I) atoms are connected by two HIPy ligands to form a dimer and these dimers are further bridged through the iodide atoms, leading to a chain structure extending parallel to [100]. Moreover, inter-molecular N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds and weak π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid⋯centroid distances of 3.809 (4) Å, an inter-planar separation of 3.345 (3) Å and a ring slippage of 1.822 Å] between pyridyl rings link the chains into a two-dimensional supra-molecular network in the ac plane.

The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds, which link the chains, forming a two-dimensional layer parallel to (10); O-H?Cl inter-actions link the layers, forming a three-dimensional network.
