Di-μ(3)-iodido-diiodidobis(μ(2)-4'-phenyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine)tetra-copper(I).

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Cu(4)I(4)(C(21)H(15)N(3))(2)], lies on an inversion centre located at the centroid of a four-membered ring formed by one of the crystallographically independent Cu(I) ions and a triply bridging iodide ligand. The 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (phterpy) ligand chelates each of the independent Cu(I) centres in a bidentate fashion, with the N atom of the central pyridyl ring bridging the two Cu(I) centres and those of the outer pyridyl rings binding the two independent Cu(I) ions individually to form a dinuclear system. These are further linked by triply-bridging I(-) anions to form the centrosymmetric tetra-nuclear units. One independent Cu atom binds to each of the inversion-related I(-) anions while the other coordinates to one bridging and one terminal monodentate iodide ligand. The outer pyridyl rings are twisted relative to the central pyridyl ring of the phterpy ligand with dihedral angles of 18.7 (1) and 35.6 (1)°, respectively.

Project description:The title compound, (C(12)H(28)N)(2)[Cu(3.194)I(6)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)] was prepared from reaction of copper powder, copper(I) oxide, hydro-iodic acid, tetra-propyl-ammonium iodide and pyridine under hydro-thermal conditions. In the centrosymmetric Cu(4)I(6) (2-) anion, one Cu site is in a trigonal-planar coordination while the second Cu site, which is only partially occupied [site occupancy of 0.5968 (16)], is surroundedby three iodine atoms and one pyridine molecule in a distorted tetrahedral coordination.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(24)H(20)P)(2)[Te(2)I(6)], is composed of discrete PPh(4) (+) cations and centrosymmetric [Te(2)I(6)](2-) anions. The tellurium(II) atom shows a sligthly distorted square-planar TeI(4) geometry and is coordinated to two bridging and two terminal iodine atoms. The planar [Te(2)I(6)](2-) ions are isolated by the cations and no inter-molecular tellurium-halogen or halogen-halogen inter-actions are present.

One is chelated by a pyridine N atom and an S-donor from one di-2-pyridyl disulfide ligand and coordinated by two I atoms, while the second Cu(I) atom is coordinated by a pyridine-N and three I atoms. Iodine bridges between the Cu(I) atoms form a tetra-nuclear structure.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Cu(2)I(2)(C(44)H(32)P(2))(2)]·0.67H(2)O, has been determined because of its inter-esting catalytic and optical features. The mol-ecule, which has non-crystallographic C2-symmetry, consists of a core structure of two Cu(I) ions, bridged by two iodide ions. Each Cu(I) ion is also coordinated by one equivalent of the chiral bidentate (R)-BINAP ligand [BINAP = 2,2'-bis-(diphenyl-phosphan-yl)-1,1'-binaphth-yl]. Thus, both cations show a distorted tetra-hedral geometry being surrounded by two I atoms and two P atoms from the (R)-BINAP ligands. The complex consists of isolated butterfly-shaped mol-ecules featuring an angle of 146.11 (2)° between adjacent CuI(2) planes. The structure displays intra-molecular C-H⋯I hydrogen bonding and contains disordered water. The absolute configuration of this chiral complex was determined by anomalous dispersion effects.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(6)H(8)O(4))Cl(2)(C(15)H(11)N(3))(2)]·4H(2)O, the dinuclear copper complex is located on a crystallographic inversion centre. Each Cu atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment, with one O atom of an adipate dianion and three N atoms from the 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and one chlorine in the apical site. In addition, there is weak Cu-O inter-action opposite of the chlorine with a distance of 2.768 (1) Å. The adipate ligand adopts a gauche-anti-gauche conformation. The inter-stitial water mol-ecules form hydrogen-bonded tertramers that are connected to the complexes via O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, thus leading to the formation of tightly hydrogen-bonded layers extending perpendicular to the b-axis direction.

The metal atoms display a distorted tetragonal-pyramidal coordination geometry, and are linked by two μ(2)- and two μ(3)-hydroxo groups, assuming a chair-like conformation for the Cu(4)O(2) core. In the crystal, the cations are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to the nitrate anions, which are in turn connected via O-H⋯O inter-actions to centrosymmentric water tetra-mers.

Project description:The crystal structure of the centrosymmetric complex [Cu(terpy)2Cl2](OTF)2 consists of a CuII metal center in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry with π–π stacking interactions contributing to the crystal packing. In the centrosymmetric title complex, [Cu2Cl2(C15H11N3)2](CF3O3S)2, the CuII metal center is fivefold coordinated by two chloride ions and three nitrogen atoms of the terpyridine ligand in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry; two trifluoromethanesulfonate ions complete the outer coordination sphere. π–π stacking interactions between the pyridyl rings in adjacent molecules contribute to the alignment of the complexes in columns along the a-axis. This structure represents the first example of a binuclear dication of formula [Cu(terpy)2Cl2]2+ with trifluoromethanesulfonate as counter-ions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Er(2)(C(10)H(8)O(6))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]·6H(2)O, comprises one Er(3+) ion, one and a half 2,2'-(p-phenyl-enedi-oxy)diacetate (hqda) ligands, two coordinated water mol-ecules and three uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The Er(3+) ion is nine-coordinated by seven O atoms from hqda ligands and two O atoms from water mol-ecules. In the title compound, there are two types of crystallographically independent ligands: one with an inversion center in the middle of the ligand is chelating on both ends of the ligand towards each one Er center; the other hqda ligands are bridging-chelating on one side, and bridging on the other end of the ligand. Two adjacent Er(3+) ions are thus chelated and bridged by -COO groups from hqda ligands in three coordination modes (briding-chelating, bridging and chelating). These building blocks are linked by OOC-CH(2)O-C(6)H(4)-OCH(2)-COO spacers, forming two-dimensional neutral layers. Adjacent layers are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional supermolecular network.
