Catena-Poly[[[tetra-aqua-samarium(III)]-di-μ-isonicotinato-κO:O'] chloride].

ABSTRACT: In the structure of the title compound, {[Sm(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]Cl}(n), the unique Sm(III) atom lies on a crystallographic twofold axis and is eight-coordinated by four O atoms from four isonicotinate ligands and four water mol-ecules in a slightly distorted square-anti-prismatic coodination environment. The Sm(III) atoms are bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups of two isonicotinate ligands, forming an extended chain along the c-axis direction. These chains are cross-linked through hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework, with channels which accommodate the chloride anions.

Adjacent La(III) atoms are bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups from two isonicotinate ligands, forming an extended chain along [001]. These chains are linked through O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network with channels in which the chloride anions form O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. Intra-chain O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.908 (2) Å] are also observed.

Project description:The title compound, [CuEu(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(8)(H(2)O)(4)](n), displays a one-dimensional chain structure. The four-coordinate Cu(II) ion (site symmetry ) adopts a trans-CuN(2)O(2) geometry and is bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups from two isonicotinate ligands. The Eu(III) ion adopts a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry, being coordinated by four O atoms from bridging carboxyl-ate groups of four isonicotinate ligands, two O atoms from chelating carboxyl-ate groups of one isonicotinate ligand and two O atoms from coordinated water mol-ecules; adjacent Eu(III) ions in the chain are related by inversion. The water mol-ecules interact with the ligands via O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds [O⋯O = 2.782 (3)-2.881 (3) Å], which link the chains into a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, {[Ag(4)Er(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(5)(C(2)O(4))(2)(NO(3))(H(2)O)]·4H(2)O}(n), each Er(III) atom is coordinated in a bicapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry by three O atoms from two isonicotinate (IN) ligands, four O atoms from two oxalate ligands and one O atom from either a nitrate ion or a water mol-ecule, both of which are half-occupied over the same site. One Ag(I) atom has a Y-shaped geometry defined by one N atom from one IN ligand, one O atom from another IN ligand and one O atom from an oxalate ligand. The other Ag(I) atom is coordinated by two IN ligands and one O atom from an oxalate ligand. One of the IN ligands is disordered over an inversion center and forms a bridge between two centrosymmetric Ag(I) ions. Due to the disorder, this IN ligand coordinates to the Ag atom through either the pyridyl N or the carboxyl-ate O atoms. The IN and oxalate ligands link the Er and Ag atoms into a three-dimensional coordination framework. O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Li(4)(C(5)H(3)N(2)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)(5)]Cl(2), contains two Li(I) cations, one with a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal and the other with a distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometry. Two symmetry-related asymmetric units constitute a building block of the structure, in which both ligand carboxyl-ate O atoms are bidentate and bridge the metal ions, forming a divalent cation. Charge balance is maintained by two chloride anions. The building blocks, bridged by Li(I) cations, form cationic ribbons with chloride anions in the space between them. The ribbons propagate in [010] and are held together by a network of weak O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds which operate in the space between adjacent ribbons.

Project description:The title compound, {[Co(C(2)H(5)COO)(2)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized by the reaction of cobalt(II) carbonate hydrate with aqueous propionic acid. The structure consists of polymeric infinite linear chains with composition [Co(C(2)H(5)COO)(4/2)(H(2)O)(2/2)](∞) running along [010]. The chains are formed by Co(2+) ions linked with bridging propionate groups and water mol-ecules, with a Co⋯Co distance along the chains of 3.2587 (9) Å. The Co(2+) ion is six-coordinated in a strongly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The chains are connected to each other by a network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving solvent water mol-ecules.

Together with the two nitrate ligands, the overall charge for the complex cation is +1, which leads to the anionic chain having a monovalent repeat unit. The polymeric anionic chain, with Mo-Ag-Mo and Ag-Mo-Ag angles of 161.916 (13) and 153.915 (13)°, respectively, presents a distorted linear configuration. The cations and the anions are linked via weak C-H⋯S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions while the cations exhibit inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions. The structure is isotypic with the corresponding W, Yb, Eu, Nd, La and Dy complexes.

The central Dy atom in the cation is coordinated by eight O atoms from two didentate nitrate and four hmp ligands, giving rise to a distorted square anti-prismatic structure. Together with the two nitrate ligands, the cation is univalent, which leads to the anionic chain having a [WS(4)Ag] repeat unit. The polymeric anionic chain, with W-Ag-W and Ag-W-Ag angles 161.16 (2) and 153.606 (11)°, respectively, presents a distorted linear configuration. The title compound is isotypic with other rare earth complexes.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title one-dimensional polymeric compound, {[Co(C10H11O2)2(H2O)3]·2H2O} n , contains one CoII cation situated on a centre of inversion, one-half of a coordinating water mol-ecule, one 2,4,6-tri-methyl-benzoate (TMB) anion together with one coordinating and one non-coordinating water mol-ecule; the TMB anion acts as a monodentate ligand. In the anion, the carboxyl-ate group is twisted away from the attached benzene ring by 84.9 (2)°. The CoII atom is coordinated by two TMB anions and two water mol-ecules in the basal plane, while another water mol-ecule bridges the CoII atoms in the axial directions, forming polymeric chains running along [001]. The coordination environment for the CoII cation is a slightly distorted octa-hedron. The coordinating and bridging water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups via intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing S(6) ring motifs, while the coordinating, bridging and non-coordinating water mol-ecules link to the carboxyl-ate groups and the coordinating water mol-ecules link to the non-coordinating water mol-ecules via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, enclosing R22(8) and R33(8) ring motifs. Weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions may further stabilize the crystal structure.
