Catena-Poly[[[bis-(methyl-amine)zinc(II)]-μ-4,4'-oxydibenzoato] N,N-dimethyl-acetamide solvate].

ABSTRACT: In the title zinc(II) coordination polymer, {[Zn(C(14)H(8)O(5))(CH(5)N)(2)]·C(4)H(9)NO}(n), each Zn(II) cation is tetra-hedrally coordinated by two carboxyl-ato O atoms of two oba anions (H(2)oba is 4,4'-oxydibenzoic acid), and two N atoms from two methyl-amine mol-ecules. Each oba anion bridges two Zn(II) cations through the two carboxyl-ate groups in a monodentate fashion, forming one-dimensional polymeric chains. These chains are linked via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title compound, [UO(2)(C(14)H(8)O(5))(H(2)O)](n), is a polymeric UO(2) complex bridged by 4,4'-oxydibenzoate ligands. One carboxyl-ate group of the bridging ligand chelates a uranyl cation while the other carboxyl-ate group of the ligand bridges two other two uranyl cations, forming a double-chain polymeric structure. The central U(VI) atom is seven-coordin-ated in a distorted UO(7) penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the crystal structure, O-H?O hydrogen bonding links the polymeric chains into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework. Within the bridging ligand, the two benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 59.0?(2)°.

The Zn(II) atom is six-coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms of two p-phenylenediacrylate (ppda(2-)) ligands, one N atom of a pyridine mol-ecule and one O atom of a water mol-ecule in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The carboxyl-ate groups of the ppda(2-) anions are in a bridging-chelating mode, in which two O atoms chelate one Zn(2+) ion. These connections result in an extended chain structure. Parallel packing of the chains forms a two-dimensional network with inter-molecular edge-to-face inter-actions. Further linkages between the layers through O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions result in a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture with one-dimensional recta-nglar channels.
