Catena-Poly[[aqua-dipyridine-copper(II)]-μ-fumarato].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cu(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(5)H(5)N)(2)(H(2)O)](n), is a one-dimensional coordination polymer based on pyridine and fumarate ligands. Each Cu(II) cation is coordinated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms belonging to two fumarate anions, two N atoms from two pyridine mol-ecules and one water mol-ecule, in a square-based pyramidal geometry. Each fumarate anion bridges two Cu(II) cations through the two carboxyl-ate groups in a bis-monodentate fashion to form a one-dimensional polymeric chain along the c axis. Neighbouring chains are linked together to form a two-dimensional network parallel to the ac plane via hydrogen bonding inter-actions between uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms and coordinated water mol-ecules of adjecent chains.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[Cu(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(3)H(10)N(2))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), consists of two Cu(II) atoms, half each of two propane-1,3-diamine ligands and two coordinated water mol-ecules, all lying on crystallographic mirror planes, also one fumarate dianion and one uncoordinated water mol-ecule in a general position. The Cu(C(3)H(10)N(2))(H(2)O) units are linked via fumarate dianions into a zigzag chain running along the a axis. A longer Cu-O distance [2.873?(3)?Å] is to a water mol-ecule bridging equivalent Cu(II) atoms in adjacent chains, forming a three-dimensional framework. One of the Cu(II) atoms is in a distorted square-pyramidal environment and the other is in a pseudo-octa-hedral geometry of the [5+1] type. O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(4)H(5)O(4))(H(2)O)](n), the imino-diacetate (ida) ligands link the Cu(II) atoms into polymeric zigzag chains running along [010]. Each Cu(II) ion is five-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry by one N and two O atoms from an ida ligand, one O atom from the neighbouring ida ligand and one water O atom. In the crystal, the polymeric chains are held together via inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), there are two symmetry-independent one-dimensional coordination polymers related by a non-crystallographic inversion center. Within the polymers, the Cu(II )atoms, coordinated by the water mol-ecule and the chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligands, are bridged by 5-nitro-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate dianions which act as tridentate ligands; the carboxyl-ate groups exhibit monodentate and symmetric bidentate coordination modes. The Cu(II) atoms show a strongly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal structure, the two symmetry-independent coordination polymers form another one-dimensional polymeric structure via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between coordinated water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate groups.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), there are two symmetry-independent one-dimensional coordination polymers, which are approximately related by noncrystallographic inversion symmetry. Each zigzag chain is constructed from one Co(II) ion, one O-monodentate 5-nitro-isophthalate (ndc) dianion, one N,N'-bidentate 2,2'-bipyridyl ligand and one water mol-ecule. A symmetry-generated O,O'-bidentate ndc dianion completes the cobalt coordination environment, which could be described as very distorted cis-CoN(2)O(4) octa-hedral. The bridging ndc ligands result in parallel chains running along the a direction, and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds arising from the water mol-ecules complete the structure.

The four-coordinate Cu(II) ion (site symmetry ) adopts a trans-CuN(2)O(2) geometry and is bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups from two isonicotinate ligands. The Eu(III) ion adopts a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry, being coordinated by four O atoms from bridging carboxyl-ate groups of four isonicotinate ligands, two O atoms from chelating carboxyl-ate groups of one isonicotinate ligand and two O atoms from coordinated water mol-ecules; adjacent Eu(III) ions in the chain are related by inversion. The water mol-ecules interact with the ligands via O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds [O⋯O = 2.782 (3)-2.881 (3) Å], which link the chains into a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), is a new coordination polymer of benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate with cadmium(II) and 1,10-phenanthroline. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule, three O atoms from two crystallographically independent benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and the O atom of a coordinated water mol-ecule, forming a heavily distorted octa-hedron. The 1,10-phenanthroline ligand is approximately planar within 0.073 (4) Å. The two different benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands each coordinate to two Cd(II) ions in bidentate and monodentate modes, forming an infinite zigzag chain. Adjacent chains are packed tightly by strong π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.851 (2) and 3.859 (2) Å] between the aromatic rings of the benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and the 1,10-phenanthroline of a neighboring chain, forming a sheet parallel to (011). Different sheets are linked together via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the O atoms of the carboxyl-ate groups, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CuCl(C(12)H(12)N(2)O)][CuCl(C(12)H(12)N(2)O)(H(2)O)](ClO(4))(2), contains two different discrete cations. In one cation, the Cu(II) ion is coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry, while in the other the Cu(II) ion is in a slightly distorted square-pyramidal environment. In the crystal structure, there are O-H?O hydrogen bonds between coordinated water mol-ecules and perchlorate anions. Both types of cations are linked into one-dimensional chains along the b axis by weak electrostatic Cu?Cl inter-actions, with Cu?Cl distances of 2.8088?(16) and 3.2074?(17)?Å.

The ligand L is tridentate, with one N atom of the pyrazine ring and one O atom of one carboxyl-ate group forming a chelate ring, whereas one O atom from the second carboxyl-ate group is coordinated to another Cu atom. The ligand L links mol-ecules to form an infinite chain parallel to the [101] direction. The chains are further linked through O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules to build up a three-dimensional network.
