ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Sm(2)(C(3)H(5)O(2))(6)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], is a dinuclear centrosymmetric mol-ecule, in which two crystallographically equivalent Sm atoms, separated by 3.9502?(2)?Å, are bridged by four propanoate anions. Each Sm atom is coordinated by two N atoms from one chelating phenanthroline ligand and seven carboxylate O atoms from five propanoate anions, to form a distorted tricapped trigonal prism.

The Dy(III) atom is nine-coordinated by seven O atoms from five L ligands and two N atoms from the phen mol-ecules. The L ligands are coordinated to the Dy(III) ion in three coordination modes: chelating, bridging and bridging-tridentate. C-H?O hydrogen bonding interactions consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Ho(2)(C(10)H(11)O(4))(6)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Ho(III) atom is nine-coordinated by seven O atoms from the 3,4-dimeth-oxy-phenyl-acetate (L) anions and two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) mol-ecule. The L ligands are coordinated to the Ho(III) ions in three modes: chelating, bridging and bridging-tridentate. Intra-molecular C-H?O inter-actions occur. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions and weak aromatic ?-? inter-actions between phen mol-ecules and the aromatic rings of the L ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.821?(2)?Å].

Project description:In the title compound, [EuSm(C(12)H(9)O(2))(6)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], the metal site is statistically occupied (50:50) by Eu and Sm atoms, forming a centrosymmetric complex. The metal site is nine-coordinate, in a distorted monocapped square-anti-prismatic coordination geometry. Mol-ecules are linked into three chains by C-H?? interactions and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The combination of these chains generates a three-dimensional framework structure. One of the bridging naphthalene-1-ace-tate ligands was found to be disordered over two sites; the site occupancies for the naphthylmethyl group refined to 0.628?(14) and 0.372?(14).

Project description:The title complex salt, [CuCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)][Tb(NO(3))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))], consists of discrete [CuCl(phen))(2)](+) cations and [Tb(NO(3))(4)(phen)](-) anions (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline). The [CuCl(phen))(2)](+) cation contains a five-coordinate Cu(2+) ion, ligated by two bidentate phen ligands and one Cl(-) ion, exhibiting a distorted CuN(4)Cl trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the [Tb(NO(3))(4)(phen)](-) anion, the Tb(3+) ion is coordinated by one chelating phen ligand and four chelating nitrates, forming a distorted TbN(2)O(8) bicapped dodeca-hedral configuration. The anions and cations are assembled into a three-dimensional network by weak C-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. There is also a significant ?-? stacking inter-action, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.635?(2)?Å.

Project description:Single crystals of the title heterometallic compound, [Fe(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)][Cr(NCS)(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))](2)·3CH(3)CN·H(2)O or [Fe(Cphen)(3)][Cr(NCS)(4)(phen)](2)·3CH(3)CN·H(2)O, were pre-pared using the one-pot open-air reaction of iron powder, Reineckes salt and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) in acetonitrile. The asymetric unit consists of an [Fe(phen)(3)](2+) cation, two [Cr(phen)(NCS)(4)](-) anions, three acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules and a water mol-ecule. The Fe and Cr atoms both show a slightly distorted octa-hedral FeN(6) and CrN(6) coordination geometry with adjacent angles in the range 79.67?(12)-95.21?(12)°. No classical hydrogen bonding involving the water molecule is observed.

Project description:The title complex, [Eu(2)(C(11)H(7)O(3))(6)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·2H(2)O, has a centrosymmetric binuclear cage structure in which the two Eu(III) ions are both nine-coordinated and bridged by 6-hy-droxy-1-naphthoate (L) ligands, with an Eu? Eu separation of 4.1594?(4)?Å. The remaining coordination sites are occupied by two N atoms from one 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and two O atoms from an L ligand. The six 6-hydr-oxy-1-naphthoate groups coordinate each Eu(III) atom in three different ways, namely ?(2)-?(1):?(1)-bridging, ?(1)-?(1):?(1)-chelating, and ?(2)-?(1):?(2)-chelating/bridging modes. Adjacent discrete dinuclear units are linked into a two-dimensional sheet parallel to (011) by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. The sheets are cross-linked by water mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional network. In addition, ?-? stacking inter-actions, with a centroid-centroid separation of 3.547?(2)?Å are observed.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(2)Tb(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(4)]NO(3)·4H(2)O, consists of one-half of the C(2)-symmetric trinuclear coordination cation, one-half of the C(2)-symmetric nitrate anion and two water mol-ecules. In the coordination cation, the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from a bridging-chelating carboxyl-ate group of the pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anion, completing a distorted N(4)O(2) octa-hedral coordination environment. The Tb(III) atom, located on a twofold rotation axis, is nine-coordinated by three tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions forming an N(3)O(6) donor set. The intra-molecular Cu?Tb distance of 5.0592?(11)?Å indicates weak inter-actions between the Cu(II) and Tb(III) atoms. The coordination cations, nitrate anions and water mol-ecules are connected via O-H?O hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to the (001) plane. Moreover, there are extensive ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 4.332?(7) and 3.878?(5)?Å] between the phenanthroline ligands and between phenanthroline and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate ligands.

Project description:The title mononuclear complex, [Sm(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(NO(3))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], is isostructural with that of other lanthanides. The Sm atom is in a pseudo-bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry, formed by four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands and by six O atoms, four from two 2,6-dihy-droxy-benzoate (DHB) ligands and the other two from a nitrate anion. ?-? stacking inter-actions between phen and DHB ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.528?(4) and 3.812?(3)?Å], and phen and phen ligands [face-to-face separation = 3.420?(10)?Å] of adjacent complexes stabilize the crystal structure. Intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed in the DHB ligands.
