Project description:The racemic title compound, C(54)H(38)O(2), consists of two C-linked penta-leno[1,2,3-ij]naphthalenone moieties, the crowded aryl ring substitution on the cyclo-pentane rings forcing the two segments to assume a conformation which has pseudo-twofold rotational symmetry, with a dihedral angle between the naphthalene substituent groups of 55.30?(8)°. In each segment, the two phenyl rings have different conformational orientations, with inter-ring dihedral angles of 34.7?(2) and 49.63?(16)°. Each cyclo-pentane ring has the same relative configuration in its four chiral centres and together with the fused naphthalene ring assumes an overall chair-like conformation.

Project description:In the crystal structure, the title compound, C(24)H(22)O(8), lies on a twofold rotation axis and the asymmetric unit comprises one half-mol-ecule. The dihedral angle formed by the coumarin unit with the symmetry-related part is 74.78?(14)°. One of the meth-oxy groups attached to the coumarin unit is considerably twisted, making an angle of 87.17?(17)° with respect to the coumarin unit; the other is twisted by 0.66?(19)°. No classical hydrogen bonds are found in the sturcture; only a weak C-H?? inter-action and short intra-molecular O?O contacts [2.683?(2)-2.701?(2)?Å] are observed.

Project description:The title compound, (C21H20OP)(C19H15N4)[CuCl4], was obtained by reacting CuCl2·2H2O with a mixture of one equivalent of acetonyltri-phenyl-phospho-nium chloride and one equivalent of 2,3,5-tri-phenyl-tetra-zolium chloride in aceto-nitrile. In the structure, the Cu centre in the dianion is bonded to four chloride ligands and adopts a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The phospho-nium cation likewise adopts the expected tetra-hedral geometry. The tetra-zolium ring forms dihedral angles of 77.68 (10), 26.85 (11) and 66.48 (10)° with the planes of the benzene rings of the substituent groups. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving both cations and the anion give rise to a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:There are two independent mol-ecules and one toluene solvent mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(25)H(12)Br(4)·0.5C(7)H(8). The dihedral angles between the fluorene ring systems are 85.30?(6) and 84.95?(6)° in the two mol-ecules. The disortions in angles from the ideal sp(3)-hybridization geometry around the tetra-hedral C atoms are due to the strain imposed by the central five-membered ring and steric effects.

Project description:The title compound, C(18)H(20)O(4), was synthesized by the reaction of 4-methoxy-benzaldehyde, 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione and 5,5-dimethyl-cyclo-hexane-1,3-dione with triethyl-benzyl-ammonium chloride in water as a green solvent. In the mol-ecule of the title compound, the six-membered pyran-one ring of the hexa-hydro-coumarin system has a screw-boat conformation while that of the dimethyl-cyclo-hexenone system has a distorted envelope conformation. The CMe(2) portion of this ring is disordered over two positions with refined occupancies of 0.721 (7) and 0.279 (7).

The phenyl rings in the 1-, 2-, 4- and 5-positions in A are twisted from the central imidazole ring by 84.3?(2), 21.6?(2), 21.5?(2) and 75.7?(2)°, respectively. In these two mol-ecules, the four dihedral angles between each pair of phenyl rings on the same C atoms are 75.4?(1), 83.0?(1), 85.0?(1) and 80.4?(2)°. All of the nonplanar six-membered heterocycles adopt chair conformations. Inter-molecular C-H?? and weak C-H?O inter-actions link the mol-ecules and are effective in the stabilization of the crystal structure.
