The benzene and pyridine rings form a dihedral angle of 17.13?(7)°. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supermolecular structure parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(15)H(12)N(2)O(4))(2)(C(6)H(5)N)(2)], each Cu(II) atom is chelated by the tridentate doubly deprotonated Schiff base and a pyridine mol-ecule in a nearly planar environment (r.m.s. deviation for all non-H atoms = 0.107?Å). The metal ions are bridged by one O atom from the symmetry-related Schiff base ligands, forming a centrosymmetric dinuclear copper(II) complex. The dimeric complex is linked to another dimer via weaker Cu-O inter-actions and also O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compund, C(30)H(28)N(2)O(2), a Schiff base synthesised via a condensation reaction between 4-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde and 3,3'-dimethyl-benzidine, a crystallographic twofold rotation axis passes through the mid-point of the C-C bond of the biphenyl unit. Thus, the asymmetric unit comprises one half-mol-ecule. In the biphenyl unit, the aromatic rings are twisted by 13.49?(7)° with respect to one another. The amino group is not involved in an N-H hydrogen bond. The crystal packing is established by inter-molecular C-H?O packing inter-actions involving a relatively rare weak three-center hydrogen bond between the keto O atom and H atoms of the two nearby phenyl rings, which link the mol-ecules into chains running along the a axis. Additional weak inter-molecular hydrogen-bond inter-actions between the 4-meth-oxy O atom and one of the phenyl rings and provide added stability to the crystal packing.

Inter-molecular N-H?O and bifurcated O-H?N(S) hydrogen bonds link two thio-carbonohydrazide and two solvent mol-ecules into a centrosymmetric unit. These units, related by translation along the b axis, are further aggregated into columns through N-H?S hydrogen bonds.
