Although the calcium/calmodulin-activated phosphatase calcineurin may dephosphorylate many endocytic proteins, it is not considered a key molecule in mediating the major forms of endocytosis at synapses-slow, clathrin-dependent and the rapid, clathrin-independent endocytosis.
