ABSTRACT: In the title compound, {[Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), the Cu(II) ion is bonded to three water mol-ecules, one N,O-bidentate pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate dianion and one O-bonded symmetry-generated dianion, resulting in a distorted CuNO(5) octa-hedral geometry. The bridging ligand results in an infinite chain. A network of O-H?O hydrogen bonds helps to establish the crystal structure.

Project description:The Cu atom in the title complex, {[Cu(C(6)H(2)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n) or {[Cu(L)(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n) (L is pyrazine-2,3-dicarbox-yl-ate), displays octa-hedral coordination formed by the ligand L and three coordinated water mol-ecules. The ligand L is tridentate, with one N atom of the pyrazine ring and one O atom of one carboxyl-ate group forming a chelate ring, whereas one O atom from the second carboxyl-ate group is coordinated to another Cu atom. The ligand L links mol-ecules to form an infinite chain parallel to the [101] direction. The chains are further linked through O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules to build up a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title polymeric compound, [Cd(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(3)](n) or [Cd(py-2,3-dc)(H(2)O)(3)](n), where py-2,3-dcH(2) is pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, was obtained by the reaction of cadmium(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with (pipzH(2))(py-2,3-dc) as a proton-transfer compound in aqueous solution (pipz is piperazine). The mol-ecular structure shows that only the anionic fragment of the starting proton-transfer compound is present in the complex, while the (pipzH(2))(2+) dication has been lost. Each (py-2,3-dc)(2-) ligand bridges two Cd(II) atoms in two different coordination modes, i.e. one end acts as a monodentate and the other end as a bidentate ligand. The three remaining coordination sites on the metal center are occupied by water mol-ecules. The geometric arrangement of the six donor atoms around the Cd(II) atom is distorted octa-hedral. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds play an important role in stabilizing the supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title compound, {[Cu(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The Cu(2+) ion is six-coordinated by three water O atoms, and two N atoms and one O atom of the 2,2'-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate bridging ligand in a sligthly distorted octa-hedral environment. The 2,2-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate bridges link the Cu(2+) ions into chains along the b-axis direction. These chains are further linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the water solvent mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional framework.

The water mol-ecules occupy basal and apical positions of the square-pyramidal coordination polyhedron. Each quinoline-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate dianion bridges two adjacent Cu(II) ions, forming a polymeric chain along [010]. The chains are further connected via O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions and quinoline ring ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.725?(4)?Å], generating a three-dimensional structure. Lattice water mol-ecules participate in the crystal structure via O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

There are two symmetry-independent Mn(II) centres with different coordination environments: one Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four O atoms from four ligands and two N atoms from two ligands, the other Mn(II) atom is coordinated by three O atoms from two ligands, two water O atoms and the O atom of an ethanol mol-ecule. Project description:The reaction of the proton-transfer compound (pdaH(2))(py-3,5-dc)·H(2)O (pda = propane-1,3-diamine and py-3,5-dcH(2) = pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid) with Ba(NO(3))(2) leads to the formation of the title polymeric compound, [Ba(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(3)](n). The Ba(II) atom is nine-coordinated by six carboxyl-ate O atoms from the (py-3,5-dc)(2-) ligands, and three O atoms from the coordinated water mol-ecules. The coordination polyhedron around the Ba(II) atom is best described as tricapped trigonal-prismatic. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular inter-actions, such as X-H⋯O hydrogen bonds (X = O and C) and π-π stacking [centroid-centroid distances between pyridine rings of 3.6191 (13) and 3.6192 (13) Å] play an important role in stabilizing the supramolecular structure.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Pb(C(7)H(3)NO(4))](n), the Pb(II) ion is eight-coordinated in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by one pyridine N atom and seven carboxyl-ate O atoms from four pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate (pda) anions. In the pda anion, the dihedral angles between the pyridine ring and carboxyl-ate groups are 19.5?(6) and 73.3?(6)°. The carboxyl-ate groups of the pda anions bridge the Pb ions, forming a two-dimensional coordination polymer parallel to (100). Weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen boning is present in the crystal structure.

The bridging 2,3-pydc ligands connect the Zn(II) ions into a chain extending along [010]. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the uncoordinated water mol-ecules and the uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms, as well as π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings of the phen ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.557 (2) Å], are observed.
