ABSTRACT: In the title polymeric complex, [HgBr(2)(C(10)H(14)N(2))](n), each nicotine mol-ecule is bonded to two adjacent Hg atoms, one through the pyrrolidine N atom and the other through the pyridine N atom, forming zigzag chains along [010]. The coordination around mercury is completed by two bromido ligands resulting in a distorted tetra-hedral arrangement.

Project description:The environment of the Co(II) ion in the title compound, [Co(SO(4))(C(6)H(7)N)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), exhibits an octa-hedral configuration with the two 3-methyl-pyridine ligands lying in cis positions with respect to each other and trans to the two coordinated water mol-ecules. The axial positions are occupied by O atoms of the sulfate ions. Co and S atoms occupy special positions (twofold axis, Wyckoff position 4c). Neighboring Co(II) ions are covalently connected with each other through the sulfate ions, thus creating infinite polymeric chains that run along the c axis. The water mol-ecules are connected with neighboring sulfate ions through strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds. Intra-molecular hydrogen bonds parallel to the propagation direction of the chains stabilize the polymeric chains, and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between chains connect neighboring chains with each other, thus leading to polymeric double chains.

Project description:The title compound, [W(C(10)H(14)N(2))(CO)(5)], contains five carbonyl ligands and a nicotine ligand in an octa-hedral arrangement around the tungsten atom. The metal atom shows cis angles in the range 87.30 (16)-94.2 (2)°, and trans angles between 175.2 (2) and 178.1 (4)°. The W-CO bond trans to the pyridine N atom [1.987 (6) Å] is noticeably shorter than the others, which range between 2.036 (3) and 2.064 (3) Å, possibly due to the well-known trans effect. The distance between the W atom and the pyridine N atom is 2.278 (4) Å.

Project description:The central part of the title centrosymmetric dinuclear complex, [Zn(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(4)(C(9)H(12)N(2))(2)], has a paddle-wheel conformation with four benzoate ligands bridging two symmetry-related Zn(II) ions. The distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment around the Zn(II) ion is completed by an N atom from a 4-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)pyridine ligand. The Zn?Zn separation of 2.9826?(12)?Å does not represent a formal direct metal-metal bond. The Zn(II) ion is displaced by 0.381?(1)?Å from the mean plane of the four basal O atoms. Two of the C atoms of the pyrrolidine ring are disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.53?(2) and 0.47?(2).

Project description:The structure of the title compound, {[Cu(SO(4))(C(6)H(7)N)(4)]·4.393H(2)O}(n), consists of Cu(2+) ions surrounded in a square-planar fashion by 4-methyl-pyridine ligands, forming two crystallographically independent Cu{H(3)C(C(5)H(4)N)}(4) units that are both located on crystallographic inversion centers. The Cu(4-methyl-pyridine)(4) units are, in turn, connected with each other via bridging sulfate anions, leading to the formation of infinite [Cu{H(3)C(C(5)H(4)N)}(4)SO(4)](n) zigzag chains along [001]. The completed coordination spheres of the Cu(2+) ions are slightly distorted octa-hedral. The axial Cu-O bonds are elongated [average length = 2.42 (4) Å] compared to the equatorial Cu-N bonds [average length = 2.043 (2) Å]. The inter-stitial space between the chains is filled with uncoordinated water mol-ecules that consolidate the structure through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. One of the five crystallographically independent solvent water mol-ecules is partially occupied with an occupancy factor of 0.396 (4). Due to hydrogen bonding between symmetry-equivalent water mol-ecules across inversion centers, several of the water H atoms are disordered in 1:1 ratios over mutually exclusive positions. The crystal under investigation was found to be non-merohedrally twinned in a 0.789 (1):0.211 (1) ratio by a 180° rotation around the reciprocal b axis.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(2)(CN)(2)(C(6)H(7)N)](n), there are two copper atoms with different coordination environments. One Cu atom (Cu1) is linked to the two cyanide ligands, one N atom from a pyridine ring while the other (Cu2) is coordinated by the two cyanide ligands in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry and linked to Cu1, forming a triangular coordination environment. The Cu atoms are bridged by bidentate cyanide ligands, forming an infinite Cu-CN chain. One cyanide ligand is equally disordered over two sets of sites, exchanging C and N atoms coordinated to both metal atoms. However, one cyanide group is not disordered and it coordinates to Cu1 via the N atom whereas its C-atom counterpart coordinates Cu2. The 3-methyl-pyridine (3MP) ligand coordinates through the N atom to Cu1 as a terminal ligand, which originates from decyanation of 3-pyridyl-acetonitrile under hydro-thermal conditions. Adjacent Cu-CN chains are inter-connected through Cu?Cu inter-actions [2.8364?(10)?Å], forming a three-dimensional framework.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Cu(C(10)H(13)N(2)O(3))(C(5)H(5)N)]ClO(4)}(n), the Cu(II) atom has an N(3)O(2) coordination sphere. The complex contains two different ligands, viz. a pyridine mol-ecule and a Schiff base mol-ecule, resulting from the condensation of ethyl-enodiamine with dehydro-acetic acid. The Cu(II) atom exhibits a square-pyramidal geometry: three of the four donors of the pyramid base belong to the Schiff base ligand (an N atom from the amine group, a second N atom from the imine group and the O atom of the pyran-one residue) and the fourth donor is the pyridine N atom. The coordination around the metal ion is completed by a longer axial bond to the pyran-one O atom of an adjacent Schiff base, so forming a one-dimensional polymer. The complex has a +1 charge that is compensated by a perchlorate ion. The crystal packing, which can be described as alternating chains of cations and tetra-hedral perchlorate anions along the a axis, is stabilized by inter-molecular N-H?O, C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen-bonding interactions.

Project description:Cobalt(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate and sodium dicyanamide self-assembled in dimethyl-formamide (DMF) and 4-methyl-pyridine solutions to form the title compound, [Co(C(2)N(3))(2)(C(6)H(7)N)(2)](n). The Co(2+) ion lies on an inversion center and adopts an octa-hedral coordination geometry in which four N atoms from four different dicyanamide ligands lie in the equatorial plane and two 4-methyl-pyridine N atoms occupy the axial positions. The Co(II) atoms are connected by two bridging dicyanamide ligands, resulting in a chain parallel to the c axis. The chains are connected into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.
