ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(23)H(19)FO(5)S(2), two of the phenyl ring C atoms and a sulfonyl O atom of the phenyl(methylsulfonyl) group are disordered over two positions with occupancies 0.522?(17):0.478?(17). The methyl-phenyl and fluoro-phenyl rings are essentially planar, with maximum deviations of 0.0059?(8) and 0.0047?(9)?Å, respectively. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H?F inter-actions.

Intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds generate an S(5) ring motif. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are packed into columns along the c axis and the structure is stabilized by weak intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions involving both aromatic rings.

The carbonyl group is not in a coplanar alignment with respect to the neighbouring arene ring (0.963?Å from aryl plane) while being coplanar with regard to the olefinic double bond (0.0805?Å from olefinic bond). The crystal packing does not feature significant hydrogen-bond-type or stacking inter-actions.
