ABSTRACT: The mol-ecule of the title Schiff base compound, C(14)H(13)N(3)O(2), is not perfectly planar; the furyl and pyridine rings are twisted with respect to each other along the C(4)N(2)C(2) organic chain, making a dihedral angle of 13.3?(1)°. The occurence of N-H?O hydrogen bonds builds up a chain developing parallel to the c axis.

Project description:In the title complex, [Mo(C16H13N3O2)O2(CH3OH)], the deprotonated Schiff base (E)-N'-[(Z)-4-oxido-4-phenyl-but-3-en-2-yl-idene]isonicotinohydrazide coordinates in a meridional fashion through the enolate O-, imine N- and amidate O-atom donors to the Mo atom of a cis-[MoO2](2+) core. The sixth coordination site of molybdenum is occupied by the O atom of a methanol mol-ecule. In this complex, the NO5 coordination sphere adopts a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The metal atom is shifted by 0.335?(1)?Å from the square plane defined by the three donor atoms of the Schiff base ligand and one oxide group towards the second oxide group in the cis position. In the crystal, the complex forms inversion dimers through a pair of O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the methanol -OH group and the pyridine N atom. Additional C-H?O contacts stack the mol-ecules along the b axis.

In one of these mol-ecules, the 5-methyl-2-furyl group is disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.747?(3):0.253?(3). In the two ordered mol-ecules, the furan and naphthalene rings are oriented at dihedral angles of 11.05?(12) and 32.2?(5)°. In the disordered mol-ecule, the furan rings with major and minor occupancies are oriented at dihedral angles of 41.4?(2) and 26.6?(13)°, respectively, with the corresponding naphthalene ring. Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(15)N(3)O, was obtained by a condensation reaction between o-amino-acetophenone and benzoyl hydrazine. The mol-ecule displays an E configuration about the C=N bond. Intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds are formed between the 2-amino-phenyl and imine groups. In the crystal, dimers are formed between mol-ecules linked by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds from the 2-amino-phenyl group. In addition there are inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the amine and carbonyl groups of adjacent mol-ecules. The mol-ecule is twisted rather than planar due to a steric inter-action between the central amide group and the two outer benzene rings. The dihedral angles between this central group and the two rings are 23.29?(9) and 24.96?(9)°.
