ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(2)H(4)O(6)PS)(OH)(H(2)O)(2)]·3H(2)O, consists of two Cu(2+) ions, one (O(3)PC(2)H(4)SO(3))(3-) ion and one OH(-) ion, as well as five water mol-ecules, two of which are coordinated to Cu(2+). The Cu(2+) ions are coordinated by six O atoms. The CuO(6) polyhedra are connected by ?- and ?(3)-O atoms into zigzag chains along the b axis. These chains are further connected by -CH(2)CH(2)- groups to form layers, in turn building a three-dimensional framework via hydrogen bonding.

The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(2)(C(2)H(4)O(6)PS)(OH)(H(2)O)(2)]·3H(2)O, consists of two Cu(2+) ions, one (O(3)PC(2)H(4)SO(3))(3-) ion and one OH(-) ion, as well as five water mol-ecules, two of which are coordinated to Cu(2+). The Cu(2+) ions are coordinated by six O atoms. The CuO(6) polyhedra are connected by μ- and μ(3)-O atoms into zigzag chains along the b axis. Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, {[Er(2)(C(2)H(4)O(6)PS)(OH)(3)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), consists of two Er(3+) ions, one (C(2)H(4)O(6)PS)(3-) ion, three OH(-) ions, and two water mol-ecule. The Er(3+) ions form ErO(8) polyhedra., which are connected by ?- and ?(3)-O atoms. Thus, inorganic Er-O-Er layers of edge- and face-sharing polyhedra are observed. Whereas most often in metal phosphono-sulfonates the organic linker bridges adjacent layers, in the title compound, the (O(3)PC(2)H(4)SO(3))(3-) anion is only connected to one Er-O-Er layer. Short interatomic O?O distances [2.898?(8), 2.997?(14) and 2.768?(10)?Å] indicate hydrogen bonding between the layers. The noncoordinated water mol-ecules are located between the layers.

Project description:In the title compound, Na(2)[Co(CH(4)O(6)P(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, the asymmetric unit is composed of one methyl-enediphospho-nate ligand and one water mol-ecule, which both are coordinated to a Co(II) atom, as well as a non-coordinated water mol-ecule and a sodium cation. The Co(II) atom occupies a special position on a crystallographic inversion centre. The slightly distorted Co(II)O(6) octa-hedral coordination environment is composed of two bidentate methyl-enediphospho-nate ligands and two coordinated water mol-ecules in trans positions. The sodium ion is octa-hedrally coordinated to six O atoms with Na-O distances ranging from 2.3149?(12) to 2.6243?(12)?Å. An extensive three-dimensional network of inter-molecular as well as intra-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonding inter-acions is present.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Cu(2)(C(4)H(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·3H(2)O}(n), Cu(II) ions with square-pyramidal coordination are bridged by exo-tri-dentate maleate dianions into [Cu(2)(maleate)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n) layers coincident with the bc crystal plane. The inter-lamellar regions contain hydrogen-bonded cyclic water hexa-mers which facilitate layer stacking into a pseudo-three-dimensional crystal structure. The water hexamers themselves are formed by the operation of crystallographic inversion centers on sets of three crystallographically distinct water molecules of hydration.

Project description:Ethane-sulfonic acid-based buffers like 2-[4-(2-hy-droxy-eth-yl)-piperazin-1-yl]ethane-sulfonic acid (HEPES) are commonly used in biological experiments because of their ability to act as non-coordinating ligands towards metal ions. However, recent work has shown that some of these buffers may in fact coordinate metal ions. The title complex, {[Ag(C(8)H(17)N(2)O(4)S)]·3H(2)O}(n), is a metal-organic framework formed from HEPES and a silver(I) ion. In this polymeric complex, each Ag atom is primarily coordinated by two N atoms in a distorted linear geometry. Weaker secondary bonding inter-actions from the hy-droxy and sulfate O atoms of HEPES complete a distorted seesaw geometry. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H?O hydrogen-bonding interactions.

Project description:The title compound {[Cu(2)Ho(2)(C(4)H(5)O(2))(10)(H(2)O)(4)]·3H(2)O}(n), is a one-dimensional 3d/4f organic-inorganic hybrid complex, the Ho(III) member of the isotypic lanthanoid series with Ln = Gd(III), Er(III) and Y(III). The structure shows an alternation of Cu(2) and Ho(2) dinuclear units bridged by the ligands and hydrogen bonds only. The chains are composed of Cu(2) classical dinuclear ?(1):?(1):?(2) fourfold bridges [Cu?Cu = 2.6417?(9)?Å] and of Ho(2) units bridged by two ?(2):?(1):?(2) carboxyl-ate units. This results in distorted square-based pyramidal CuO(5) units and irregular HoO(9) units. The alternating Cu(2) and Ho(2) units are bridged into linear arrays along the a axis by a set of one ?(2):?(1):?(2) carboxyl-ate O atom and two hydrogen bonds with Cu?Ho separations of 4.4883?(10) and 4.5086?(10)?Å. The distance between adjacent chains, as calculated by the closest and furthest distances between two chains, covers the range 10-14?Å. The H atoms of the water mol-ecules could not be located, but the O?O separations for these species suggest the presence of O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The Co(II) atom is chelated by the three taurinate ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry and in a facial manner. Each taurinate ligand bridges two K(+) ions via its sulfonate group, forming a three-dimensional framework. Weak N-H?O hydrogen bonding is observed in the crystal structure.

The five-coordinated Cu(II) atoms are linked by phospho-nate O atoms of the L ligands, forming a polymeric chain. These chains are further linked by the six-coordinated Cu atoms into a layer parallel to (01). N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds connect the layers into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title compound, (C(4)H(12)N(2))[Ce(2)(C(4)H(4)O(4)S)(4)(H(2)O)(2)]·3H(2)O, features a polymeric anion with a centrosymmetric Ce(2)O(2) core and a Ce?Ce distance of 4.3625?(4)?Å. The anions form ribbons {[Ce(2)(C(4)H(4)O(4)S)(4)(H(2)O)(2)](2-)}(n) extending along [100]. The doubly protonated piperazinium cations reside on centers of inversion and link the polymeric ribbons via N-H?O hydrogen bonding. Each Ce(III) cation is ten-coordinated by an O(2)S donor set from two tridentate sulfanediyldiacetate (tda) ligands, one water mol-ecule and three other tda O donors from adjacent {Ce(tda)(2)(H(2)O)} units in a distorted bicapped cubic environment. Additional O-H?O hydrogen bonding involving the coordinated and solvent water mol-ecules is also present. H atoms of the crystal water molecules could not be located and were not included in the refinement.

Each L ligand coordinates four Cu(II) atoms, thus forming a polymeric layer parallel to the bc plane with bipy molecules protruding up and down. The lattice water mol-ecules involved in O-H?· O hydrogen bonding are situated in the inner part of each layer. The crystal packing is consolidated by ?-? inter-actions between the aromatic rings of bipy ligands from neigbouring layers [inter-centroid distance = 3.762?(3)?Å].

It contains two mol-ecules of 1-amino--ethyl-idenediphospho-nic acid in the zwitterionic form, coord-inated via O atoms from two phospho-nate groups and creating two six-membered chelate rings. Two water mol-ecules in cis positions complete the coordination environment of the Ni(II) atom. The title compound contains nine partly disordered solvent water mol-ecules, which create a three-dimensional network of strong O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds.
