ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Mo(4)(C(16)H(20))(2)O(8)]·6H(2)O, is a centrosymmetric ansa-molybdocene complex in which two dinuclear [C(2)Me(4)(?(5)-C(5)H(4))(2)]Mo(?(2)-O)(2)MoO(2) units dimerize by forming two ?(3)-O bridges between three Mo atoms. The ansa-molybdocene [C(2)Me(4)(?(5)-C(5)H(4))(2)]Mo unit has a typical bent-sandwich metallocene structure with an inter-ring angle of 127.98?(8)°. The Mo atom in the bridging (?(2)-O)(?(3)-O)(2)MoO(2) group has a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination. The Mo-(?(3)-O) and Mo-(?(2)-O) bond distances inside the units [2.0869?(14) and 2.1014?(15)?Å, respectively] are slightly longer than the Mo(-x + 1, -y + 1, -z)-(?(3)-O) bond distance between the units [1.9986?(14)?Å]. The solvent water mol-ecules together with complex O atoms form a network of O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, C22H38Si2, features a trans arrangement of the cyclo-penta-dienyl rings to avoid steric strain [C-Si-Si-C torsion angle = -179.0 (5)°]. The Si-Si bond length is 2.3444 (4) Å. The most notable inter-molecular inter-actions in the mol-ecular packing are C-H⋯π contacts that lead to the formation of wave-like supra-molecular chains along the b axis.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)](2)[SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)]·6H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit consists of a transition metal complex [Co(en)(3)](3+) cation (en is ethyl-enediamine), one half of an [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion, two solvent water mol-ecules in general positions and two half-mol-ecules of water located on a mirror plane. In the complex cation, the Co(3+) ion is in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by six N atoms of the three chelating en ligands. One of the en ligands exhibits disorder of its aliphatic chain over two sets of sites of equal occupancy. The [SiMo(8)V(4)O(40)(VO)(2)](6-) heteropolyanion is a four-electron reduced bivanadyl-capped ?-Keggin-type molybdenum-vanadium-oxide cluster. In the crystal, it is located on a mirror plane, which results in disorder of the central tetra-hedral SiO(4) group: the O atoms of this group occupy two sets of sites related by a mirror plane. Furthermore, all of the eight ?(2)-oxide groups are also disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy. There are extensive inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the complex cations and inorganic polyoxidoanions, leading to a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The reaction of MoO(3) with 2-(3-pyrid-yl)benzoimidazole and water in the presence of MnSO(4)·5H(2)O at 453?K under hydro-thermal conditions afforded the title compound, {(C(12)H(11)N(2))[Mo(4)O(13)]}(n), in which infinite molybdenum oxide anionic chains are charge-balanced by diprotonated 2-(3-pyrid-yl)benzoimidazole (H(2)3-PBIM(2+)) cations. Eight [MoO(6)] octa-hedra are edge-shared, forming compact octa-molybdate subunits which are connected through pairs of Mo-O-Mo bridges into extended one-dimensional arrays propagating along the a-axis direction. The asymmetric unit of the metal oxide chain contains one half of the octa-molybdate unit, denoted [Mo(4)O(13)], the other half being generated by an inversion center. These molybdenum oxide chains are further connected through the 2-(3-pyridinio)benzoimidazolium cations into a three-dimensional network via N-H?O hydrogen bonds. In addition, neighbouring diprotonated cations are arranged in a head-to-tail fashion with a plane-to-plane separation of 3.63?(10)?Å, indicating the existence of weak aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions.

Project description:Uranyl-carboxyl-ate hybrid materials dominate the catalog of uranyl compounds owing in part to the affinity between COO(-) functional groups and UO2 (2+). Polycarboxyl-ate organic ligands may present a degree of steric hindrance and could thus influence the resulting uranyl topology. Single crystals of the title compound, {(NH4)2[(UO2)2(C12O12)(H2O)2]} n , were synthesized hydro-thermally as a result of reacting uranyl nitrate with benzene-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexa-carb-oxy-lic acid (mellitic acid). The structure is comprised of a single unique monomeric uranyl cation adopting a penta-gonal bipyramidal geometry. The uranyl coordination sphere is composed of four O atoms originating from one half of a fully deprotonated mellitic acid ligand and a single water mol-ecule. The observed axial U-O bonds display an average distance of 1.765?(8)?Å, whereas equatorial O atoms are found at an average distance of 2.40?(5)?Å. All uranium-oxygen bond lengths are in good agreement with literature values. Furthermore, the coordin-ation between the uranyl penta-gonal bipyramids and the mellitic acid anion constructs a three-dimensional anionic framework which is charge-balanced with ammonium cations. Additional stabilization of the structure is provided by O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonding inter-actions between the components.
