A new cobalt(II) complex with 5-(4-pyrid-yl)tetra-zole ligands.

ABSTRACT: A new mononuclear cobalt(II) complex, tetra-aqua-bis[5-(4-pyrid-yl)tetra-zolido-?N(5)]cobalt(II) dihydrate, [Co(C(6)H(4)N(5))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, has been synthesized and structurally characterized. The Co(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from 5-(4-pyrid-yl)tetra-zole ligands (L), as well as four O atoms from coordinated water mol-ecules. The mol-ecule is centrosymmetric, with pairs of equivalent ligands lying trans to each other in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. A prominent feature of the complex is the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular network via O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(13)H(14)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](C(12)H(8)O(6)S(2))·H(2)O, the cation, anion and uncoordinated water mol-ecule have crystallographically imposed twofold symmetry. The cobalt(II) atom exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry provided by two N atoms from two 1,3-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)propane ligands and the O atoms from four water mol-ecules. The dihedral angle between the pyridine rings in the ligand is 86.14 (11)°, whereas the dihedral angle formed by the symmetry-related benzene rings in the anion is 35.81 (12)°. In the crystal, cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked into layers parallel to the ac plane by O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen-bond inter-actions. The layers are further connected into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The paddle-wheel-type centrosymmetric dinuclear title complex, [Zn(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(4)(C(12)H(10)N(2))(2)], contains four bridging benzoate groups and two terminal trans-1-(2-pyrid-yl)-2-(4-pyrid-yl)ethyl-ene (L) ligands. The inversion center is located between the two Zn(II) atoms. The octa-hedral coordination around the Zn(II) atom, with four O atoms in the equatorial plane, is completed by an N atom of the L mol-ecule [Zn-N = 2.0198?(15)?Å] and by the second Zn(II) atom [Zn?Zn = 2.971?(8)?Å]. The Zn(II) atom is 0.372?Å out of the plane of the four coordinating O atoms.

The Zn(II) ion is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by two pyridine N atoms from two 5-(3-pyrid-yl)tetra-zolide ligands and four coordinated water mol-ecules in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle between the pyridine and tetra-zole rings is 9.920?(7)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by inter-molecular O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the tetra-zole group N atoms, the aqua ligands and solvent water mol-ecules.

In the two ligands, the pyridyl rings form dihedral angles of 21.0?(1) and 15.5?(1)°. Project description:Four new platinum(II) complexes, namely tetra-ethyl-ammonium tri-bromido-(2-methyl-1,3-benzo-thia-zole-?N)platinate(II), [NEt4][PtBr3(C8H7NS)] (1), tetra-ethyl-ammonium tri-bromido-(6-meth-oxy-2-methyl-1,3-benzo-thia-zole-?N)platinate(II), [NEt4][PtBr3(C9H9NOS)] (2), tetra-ethyl-ammonium tri-bromido-(2,5,6-trimethyl-1,3-benzo-thia-zole-?N)platinate(II), [NEt4][PtBr3(C10H11NS)] (3), and tetra-ethyl-ammonium tri-bromido-(2-methyl-5-nitro-1,3-benzo-thia-zole-?N)platinate(II), [NEt4][PtBr3(C8H6N2O2S)] (4), have been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. These species are precursors of compounds with potential application in cancer chemotherapy. All four platinum(II) complexes adopt the expected square-planar coordination geometry, and the benzo-thia-zole ligand is engaged in bonding to the metal atom through the imine N atom (Pt-N). The Pt-N bond lengths are normal: 2.035?(5), 2.025?(4), 2.027?(5) and 2.041?(4)?Å for complexes 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. The benzo-thia-zole ligands are positioned out of the square plane, with dihedral angles ranging from 76.4?(4) to 88.1?(4)°. The NEt4 cation in 3 is disordered with 0.57/0.43 occupancies.
