ABSTRACT: The mol-ecule of the title Schiff base compound, C(19)H(18)Cl(4)N(2), has crystallographic twofold rotation symmetry, with one C atom lying on the rotation axis. The dihedral angle between the two symmetry-related benzene rings is 84.70 (2)°. The plane of the -C=N-C- group is twisted away from the benzene ring by 7.5 (1)°. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular Cl⋯Cl [3.4851 (3) Å] contacts link neighbouring mol-ecules into a two-dimensional network parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(19)H(20)Br(2)N(2), is a potential bidentate Schiff base ligand. The two benzene rings are inclined at a dihedral angle of 30.85 (8)°. An inter-esting feature of the crystal structure is a weak inter-molecular Br⋯Br [3.4752 (4) Å] inter-action which is shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of the Br atoms and links neighbouring mol-ecules into chains along the c axis. The crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Each imino functional group is coplanar with its adjacent benzene ring; the two benzene rings form a dihedral angle of 51.30 (4)°. An inter-esting feature of the crystal structure is weak inter-molecular Cl⋯Cl [3.4752 (4) Å] and Cl⋯N [3.2927 (9) Å] inter-actions. Project description:In the title Schiff base, C(17)H(14)Cl(4)N(2), the atoms of one of the 2,6-dichloro-benzyl-idene units and the central 1,2-diamino-propane grouping are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.8838 (12):0.1162 (12) ratio. The dihedral angles between the ordered benzene ring and its disordered counterparts are 57.41 (12) and 54.8 (6)° for the major and minor disorder components, respectively. The crystal studied was a racemic twin, the refined ratio of the twin components being 0.37 (5):0.63 (5).

Project description:The crystal structure of the title Schiff base compound, C(19)H(20)Br(2)N(2)O(2), contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit, with similar conformations. Intra-molecular O-H?N (× 4) and C-H?N (× 5) hydrogen bonds form six- and five-membered rings, producing S(6) and S(5) ring motifs, respectively. One of the N atoms in mol-ecule A acts as a trifurcated acceptor, the rest of the N atoms being bifurcated acceptors. The dihedral angles between the benzene rings in mol-ecules A and B are 47.83?(17) and 61.11?(17)°, respectively. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular O-H?N and C-H?N hydrogen bonds. The short distances between the centroids of the benzene rings [3.7799?(19)-3.890?(2)?Å] indicate the existence of ?-? inter-actions. In addition, the crystal structure is further stabilized by an inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond, C-H?? inter-actions, and short inter-molecular Br?Br and Br?O contacts [3.4786?(5) and 3.149?(3)?Å, respectively].
