A monoclinic polymorph of di-μ-oxido-bis-({2-[2-(methyl-amino)ethyl-imino-methyl]phenolato-κN,N',O}oxidovanadium(V)).

ABSTRACT: A new monoclinic polymorph of the title compound, [V(2)(C(10)H(13)N(2)O)(2)O(4)], which is a centrosymmetric dimer, crystallizes in space group P2(1)/c, whereas the previously known polymorph crystallizes in the ortho-rhom-bic space group Pbca [Mokry & Carrano (1993 ▶). Inorg. Chem.32, 6119-6121]. Each V(V) atom is six-coordinated by one oxide group, two N atoms and one O atom from the Schiff base ligand, and by two additional bridging O atoms. The two methyl-ene groups are each disordered over two sites, with occupancy factors of 0.776 (14) and 0.224 (14). In the crystal structure, there are C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions between the dimers.

Bis[2-(hy-droxy-imino-meth-yl)phenolato]nickel(II): a second monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(7)H(6)NO(2))(2)], (I), is a second monoclinic polymorph of the compound, (II), reported by Srivastava et al. [Acta Cryst. (1967), 22, 922] and Mereiter [Private communication (2002) CCDC refcode NISALO01]. The bond lengths and angles are similar in both structures. The mol-ecule in both structures lies on a crystallographic inversion center and both have an inter-nal hydrogen bond. The title compound crystallizes in the space group P2(1)/c (Z = 2), whereas compound (II) is in the space group P2(1)/n (Z = 2) with a similar cell volume but different cell parameters. In both polymorphs, mol-ecules are arranged in the layers but in contrast to the previously published compound (II) where the dihedral angle between the layers is 86.3°, in the title polymorph the same dihedral angle is 29.4°. The structure of (I) is stabilized by strong intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding between the O-H group and the phenolate O atom.

Project description:In the title centrosymmetric dinuclear dioxidovanadium(V) complex, [V(2)(C(13)H(19)N(2)O(3))(2)O(4)], the V(V) ion is coordinated by an N,N',O-tridendate 2-eth-oxy-6-{[2-(2-hy-droxy-ethyl-amino)-ethyl-imino]-meth-yl}phenolate ligand and three oxide O atoms, forming a distorted cis-VN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry. The bridging O atoms show one short and one long bond to their two attached V(V) atoms. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring of the ligand and the V(2)O(2) plane is 75.2?(3)°. The deviation of the V(V) ion from the plane defined by the three donor atoms of the tridentate ligand and one bridging oxide O atom is 0.337?(2)?Å towards the terminal oxide O atom. Two N-H?O hydrogen bonds help to establish the conformation of the dimer. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules are linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming [100] chains.

Project description:In the title complex, [Co(C(10)H(10)Br(2)NO)(2)], the Co(II) atom lies on a twofold rotation axis, the N(2)O(2) units having distorted tetra-hedral coordination environments comprising two bidentate chelate 2,4-dibromo-6-(n-propyl-imino-meth-yl)phenolate Schiff base ligands [Co-N = 1.989 (3) Å, Co-O = 1.924 (2) Å and O/N-Co-O/N = 94.53 (10)-125.40 (15)°]. In the crystal structure, the mol-ecules are linked via weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds [3.334 (5) Å] and there are also short inversion-related intermolecular Br⋯Br contacts [3.4263 (6) Å].

Ethyl (E)-2-cyano-3-(4-methyl-phen-yl)acrylate: a second monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, C13H13NO2, was previously described in space group P21/c by He et al. [Acta Cryst. (1993), C49, 2000-2002]. The ethyl group is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.615?(10):0.385?(10) ratio. The C-O-C-C torsion angles containing the ethyl group are -111.6?(10) and 177.9?(7)°, while in the previously reported polymorph, the torsion angle is -167.3?(2)°. The molecules pack to form a three-dimensional structure in the ABAB style along the c-axis direction in the title compound, but parallel to the a-axis direction in the reported polymorph.

Both Ni atoms in each molecule have a square-pyramidal coordination geometry, and each center is bound by one O and two N atoms of one Schiff base ligand and by one N atom of a bridging thio-cyanate ligand, which define the basal planes. N atoms from the bridging thio-cyanate ligands occupy the apical positions.

Project description:The title compound, [CoCd(C9H10NO2)3Cl2]·H2O, is a solvatomorph of the corresponding hemihydrate recently published by us [Nesterova et al. (2018 ▸). Appl. Cat. A, 560, 171-184]. The current structure reveals different cell parameters and space group compared with the published one while both are monoclinic with almost the same cell volume. The title compound is formed of discrete neutral dinuclear mol-ecules with no crystallographically imposed symmetry and water mol-ecules of crystallization. The overall geometry about the cobalt(III) ion is octa-hedral with an N3O3 environment; each ligand acts as a meridional ONO donor. The CdII coordination sphere approximates an irregular square pyramid with a chlorine atom at the apex. There is significant shortening of a Cd-O bond length to the oxygen atom of the methoxo group on one of the ligands [2.459 (3) Å] compared to the corresponding distance in the published structure [2.724 (7) Å], while other Cd-Cl/N/O bonds remain roughly the same. In the crystal lattice, the heterometallic mol-ecules, which are related by the crystallographic n-glide plane and inter-linked by weak hydrogen bonds to solvent water mol-ecules, form columns along [101]. Adjacent columns lie anti-parallel to each other.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound contains one half-mol-ecule; the Co(II) atom lies on an inversion centre in a distorted octa-hedral geometry coordinated by two N atoms of the pyridine rings of the 4-pyridylthio-acetate anions and four O atoms of water mol-ecules. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional network.
