Catena-Poly[[(1,10-phenanthroline)manganese(II)]-?(3)-5-methyl-isophthalato].

ABSTRACT: In the title coupound, [Mn(C(9)H(6)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))](n), the Mn(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms [Mn-N = 2.273?(3) and 2.305?(2)?Å] from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and four O atoms [Mn-O = 2.112?(2)-2.343?(3)?Å] from three 5-methyl-isophthalate (mip) ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Each mip dianion acts as a tetra-dentate ligand connecting three Mn ions. The crystal packing exhibits ?-? inter-actions [3.599?(2)-3.755?(2)?Å] between the centroids of the six-membered rings of neighbouring 1,10-phenanthroline ligands.

Project description:The title copper coordination polymer, [Cu(3)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(2)(C(8)H(5)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized by reacting Cu(NO(3))(2), isophthalic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under hydro-thermal conditions. The trinuclear unit presents a central almost planar CuO(4) chromophore with the cation on a symmetry center, and two symmetry-related CuN(2)O(3) groups with the metal centre in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. These units are bridged by isophthalate ligands into one-dimensional double-chain coordination polymers which are, in turn, connected by various π-π stacking inter-actions (face-to-face distance ca 3.45 Å) and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Cu(C(2)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))](n), the Cu(II) atom is six-coordinated by four O atoms from two oxalate ligands and two N atoms from one 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The oxalate anions act as bis-bidentate ligands, bridging the Cu-phen units in zigzag chains extending parallel to [100]. Inter-chain C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7439 (17) Å] assemble neighboring chains, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

In the crystal structure, the chains are linked by hydrogen bonds into a polymeric ribbon structure.

The structure contains two independent Mn(II) atoms, each coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral MnN(2)O(4) geometry. [Mn(2)(phen)(2)] units (phen = 1,10-phenantroline) are bridged by 5-nitro-isophthalate (nip) ligands into ladder-like chains parallel to [100]. Adjacent polymeric chains are linked by C-H⋯O and π-π inter-actions [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.6369 (12) Å] into a two-dimensional framework parallel to (010).

Project description:The title complex, {[Mn(C(14)H(6)O(8)S(2))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·4H(2)O}(n), exhibits a chain-like polymeric structure with 9,10-dioxo-anthracene-1,5-disulfonate anions bridging Mn(II) atoms in a bis-monodentate mode. The unique Mn(II) atom is located on a crystallographic centre of inversion. Four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two sulfonate O atoms from two symmetry-related 9,10-dioxoanthracene-1,5-disulfonate anions give rise to a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment around the Mn(II) centre. The centroid of the central ring of the anthraquinone ligand represents another crystallographic centre of inversion. In the crystal structure, inter-ligand π-π stacking [centroid-to-centroid distances 3.532 (1) and 3.497 (3) Å] and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions assemble the chains into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), is a new coordination polymer of benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate with cadmium(II) and 1,10-phenanthroline. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecule, three O atoms from two crystallographically independent benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and the O atom of a coordinated water mol-ecule, forming a heavily distorted octa-hedron. The 1,10-phenanthroline ligand is approximately planar within 0.073 (4) Å. The two different benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands each coordinate to two Cd(II) ions in bidentate and monodentate modes, forming an infinite zigzag chain. Adjacent chains are packed tightly by strong π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.851 (2) and 3.859 (2) Å] between the aromatic rings of the benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and the 1,10-phenanthroline of a neighboring chain, forming a sheet parallel to (011). Different sheets are linked together via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and the O atoms of the carboxyl-ate groups, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(8)H(3)BrO(4))(C(5)H(5)N)(3)], is the first structurally characterized complex with a transition metal coordinated by a 5-bromo-isophthalate anion. The Ni(II) ion is coordinated by three O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups and three N atoms from three pyridine ligands in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The 5-bromo-isophthalate anion is planar within 0.057 (2) Å. The two carboxyl-ate groups of the ligand coordinate the Ni(II) ions in a chelating and monodentate mode, linking the metal atoms into infinite chains along the [010] direction. These chains are stacked together via strong π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance 3.601 (4) Å], forming a three-dimensional motif.

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, {[Mn(C(12)H(14)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), the Mn(II) atom has a highly distorted cis-MnN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry arising from its coordination by a bidentate phenanthroline ligand, a water mol-ecule and monodentate and bidentate adamantane-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate dianions. The bridging dianion leads to [001] chains in the crystal. The chains are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, involving both the coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules, thereby forming a two-dimensional network.
