ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Ag(2)(C(6)H(6)NO(3)S)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), the Ag(I) atom is four-coordinated by two N atoms from two symmetry-related 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) and two O atoms from two independent 4-amino-benzene-sulfonate (ABS) ligands. The two inter-chain Ag(I) atoms are bridged by two independent ABS ligands through weak Ag-O bonds and Ag?Ag attractions, forming a ladder-like chain coordination polymer [Ag(2)(ABS)(2)(bipy)(2)](n) parallel to [001], which is further linked to generate a two-dimensional structure via N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

These are connected into supra-molecular layers by hydrogen bonding involving aqua ligands, perchlorate anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. A twofold inter-penetrated primitive cubic supra-molecular network is formed by the inter-action of pseudo-layers by hydrogen bonding between aqua ligands and unligated 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules.

The structure contains [Mn(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](2+) cations with the Mn(II) atoms lying on a centres of inversion and bridged into a linear chain along the a axis by 4,4'-bipy ligands, surrounded by HL(-) anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. Extensive O-H?O hydrogen-bonding and weak ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7572 ?(3)?Å] between the constituents lead to the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
