Bis(2-methyl-4-nitro-anilinium) tetra-chloridomercurate(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, (C(7)H(9)N(2)O(2))(2)[HgCl(4)], self-assembles into cationic organic bilayers containing the 2-methyl-4-nitro-anilinium cations, sandwiched between anionic inorganic layers built up by the distorted tetra-hedral [HgCl(4)](2-) groups. The organic sheets are inter-linked through weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds, while they inter-act with the anionic part via strong charge-assisted N(+)-H?Cl-Hg hydrogen bonds. The [HgCl(4)](2-) anions are bis-ected by a mirror plane passing through the metal and two of the chloride ions.

An intricate network of O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds is established between the different components, assuring the cohesion of the network with other inter-actions, being of electrostatic and van der Waals nature.

Crystal structure of bis-(4-acetyl-anilinium) tetra-chlorido-mercurate(II).

Project description:The structure of the title salt, (C8H10NO)2[HgCl4], is isotypic with that of the cuprate(II) and cobaltate(II) analogues. The asymmetric unit contains one 4-acetyl-anilinium cation and one half of a tetra-chlorido-mercurate(II) anion (point group symmetry m). The Hg-Cl distances are in the range 2.4308?(7)-2.5244?(11)?Å and the Cl-Hg-Cl angles in the range of 104.66?(2)-122.94?(4)°, indicating a considerable distortion of the tetra-hedral anion. In the crystal, cations are linked by an inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-action, leading to a C(8) chain motif with the chains extending parallel to the b axis. There is also a ?-? stacking inter-action with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.735?(2)?Å between neighbouring benzene rings along this direction. The anions lie between the chains and inter-act with the cations through inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network structure.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, (C(6)H(7)FN)(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of parallel two-dimensional perovskite-type layers of corner-sharing CuCl(6) octa-hedra. These are bonded together via N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds from the 4-fluoro-anilinium chains, which are almost perpendicular to the layers. The CuCl(4) dianions have two short Cu-Cl bonds [2.2657?(15) and 2.2884?(13)?Å] and two longer bonds [2.8868?(15)?Å], giving highly Jahn-Teller-distorted CuCl(6) octa-hedra. The Cu atoms are situated on crystallographic centers of inversion.

Bis(1-methyl-piperidinium) tetra-chlorido-cuprate(II).

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(6)H(14)N)(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of two inequivalent 1-methyl-piperidinium cations and a flattened tetra-hedral [CuCl(4)](2-) anion. Each organic cation exhibits a chair conformation with the methyl group in the equatorial position. They are segregated into alternating layers parallel to (100) and stacked along [100]. The first cation is arranged in parallel stacks in a herringbone pattern with rows of [CuCl(4)](2-) anions fitting between the stacks and with a Cl(-) ion directed into the inter-ior of the layer. The second organic cation forms distorted hcp layers that separate the other organic cation/[CuCl(4)](2-) slabs. N-H?Cl hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anions consolidates the crystal packing.

Project description:The two unique Ni(II) atoms of the title complex, [MnNi(2)(C(11)H(8)N(3)O(6))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, have a slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment with a tetra-dentate N-(5-nitro-2-oxidobenzyl-idene)glycylglycinate Schiff base trianion. The Ni(II) atoms are coordinated by one phenolate O atom, one imine N atom, one amido N atom and one carboxyl-ate O atom. The Mn(II )atom is connected via the carboxyl-ate groups, forming a hetero-trinuclear Ni(II)-Mn(II)-Ni(II) system. The Mn(II) atom is six-coordinated in an octa-hedral geometry by four O atoms from two carboxyl-ate groups and four water mol-ecules. The Ni(II)-Mn(II)-Ni(II) hetero-trinuclear mol-ecules are stacked in the crystal and cross-linked through O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

In the crystal, the components are linked by O-H?O, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak aromatic ?-? stacking [shortest centroid-centroid separation = 3.778?(2)?Å] inter-actions. (001) layers of alternating organic cations and complex inorganic anions are apparent.
