ABSTRACT: Mol-ecules of the title compound, C(23)H(26)Cl(2)O(4), are linked by hydrogen bonds between the hydroxyl O atom and the carbonyl O atom of a neighboring mol-ecule. The central hydropyran and fused cyclohexanone rings adopt half-chair conformations, while the fused hydroxycyclohexanone ring adopts a chair conformation.

Project description:The title compound, C(19)H(20)O(5), was synthesized by the reaction of 1,3-cyclo-hexa-nedione and 4-hy-droxy-benzaldehyde in the presence of PdCl(2) and thio-urea. The tetra-hydro-pyran ring and the six-membered cyclo-hexene ring adopt envelope conformations, and the six-membered cyclo-hexane ring is in a chair conformation. The crystal packing is stabilized by classical inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(23)H(24)Cl(2)O(3), was synthesized by reaction of 2,4-dichloro-benzaldehyde and 5,5-dimethyl-cyclo-hexane-1,3-dione in ethyl-ene glycol. The central ring of the xanthene moiety is almost planar (with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0268?Å from the least-squares plane) while the two outer rings, in a cis arrangement, display envelope conformations. The ring of the 2,4-dichloro-phenyl substituent is nearly perpendicular [85.89?(4)°] to the xanthene ring system.

One of the meth-oxy groups in one mol-ecule is twisted away from the phenyl ring [C-O-C-C torsion angle = -103.40?(16)°]. The pyran ring adopts a boat conformation whereas the two fused cyclo-hexane rings adopt envelope conformations in both mol-ecules. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

In the former substituent, the six-membered xanthenyl ring adopts a flattened envelope conformation (with the methine C atom as the flap) while in the latter, the six-membered xanthenyl ring adopts a twisted envelope conformation (with the C atom bearing the hy-droxy group representing the flap). The hy-droxy H atom forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to the pyridyl N atom. An ethanol solvent mol-ecule is disordered with respect to a water mol-ecule in a 1:1 ratio. The water mol-ecule itself is disordered over two positions of equal occupancy.

Project description:In the title compound, C23H24F2O3, the central pyran ring has a flat-boat conformation, whereas the two fused cyclo-hexenone rings adopt envelope conformations, with the C atom bearing the dimethyl substituent being the flap atom in each case. The pyran ring mean plane and the di-fluoro-phenyl ring are almost normal to each other, making a dihedral angle of 87.55 (4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers with an R 2 (2)(8) ring motif. The F atom at position 2 on the di-fluoro-phenyl ring is disordered over the 2- and 6-positions, and has a refined occupancy ratio of 0.932 (3):0.068 (3).
