ABSTRACT: The Zn atom in the title salt, [ZnCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)]Cl·C(3)H(7)NO, is chelated by two phenanthroline mol-ecules and is bonded to one chloride ion and one water mol-ecule, resulting in a ZnN(4)ClO octa-hedral coordination environment with the Cl and O atoms in a cis conformation. The cations and anions are linked by O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds across a center of inversion, forming a hydrogen-bonded dimeric association. The dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two orientations in a 0.56?(1):0.44?(1) ratio.

Project description:In the structure of the title complex, [Cu(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·C(3)H(7)NO, the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry by two O atoms of a 3-formyl-2-oxidobenzoate dianion and two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand occupying the basal plane and a water O atom located at the apical site. The structure displays O-H?O hydrogen bonding and inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions between 1,10-phenantroline ligands [inter-planar distance of 3.448?(5)?Å].

Project description:In the title complex, [CoCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)]Cl·2.5H(2)O, the Co(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms of two bis-chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligands, one water mol-ecule and a chloride ligand in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The dihedral angle between the two phen ligands is 84.21?(3)°. In the crystal structure, complex mol-ecules and chloride ions are linked into centrosymmetric four-component clusters by inter-molecular O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Of the 2.5 solvent water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, two were refined as disordered over two sites with fixed occupancies of ratios 0.50:0.50 and 0.60:0.40, while another was refined with half occupancy.

Project description:In the title complex, [CoCl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·C(3)H(7)NO, which has twofold rotation symmetry, the Co(II) cation is coordinated by two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) mol-ecules and two chloride ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, a cavity is created by six complex mol-ecules connected by C-H?? inter-actions and non-classical C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The cavities are occupied by the disordered dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule. The C and N atoms of the C-N bond in the solvent mol-ecule also lie on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis; the remaining atoms of the solvent are statistically disordered (ratio 0.5:0.5) about this axis.

Project description:The title complex [CuCl(C12H8N2)2]2[Fe(CN)5(NO)]·C3H7NO, consists of discrete [Cu(phen)2Cl](+) cations (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline), [Fe(CN)5NO](2-) anions and one di-methyl-formamide (DMF) solvent mol-ecule of crystallization per asymmetric unit. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two phenanthroline ligands and one chloride ion in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The dihedral angle between the phen ligands is 77.92?(7)°. The cation charge is balanced by a disordered nitro-prusside counter-anion with the Fe(II) atom located on an inversion center with a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal, weak C-H?N and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds connect anions and cations into a two-dimensional network parallel to (100). In addition, ?-? stacking inter-actions are observed with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.565?(2)-3.760?(3)Å. The di-methyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule was refined as disordered about an inversion center.

The axial positions are occupied by a carboxyl-ate O atom from the benzoate ligand and an N atom from the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand [N-Zn-O = 146.90?(7)°]. The water mol-ecule forms an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond; an inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond gives rise to a dimer.

The packing of the structure is further stabilized by ?-? stacking inter-actions involving dmphen mol-ecules, with a centroid-centroid separation of 3.705?(3)?Å.

The Cu(II) ion has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry formed by one bidentate phenanthroline ligand, one O,N-bidentate dl-threoninate ligand and one apical water mol-ecule. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O, N-H?O, N-H?Cl and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the components into layers. A single weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-action connects these layers into a three-dimensional network.
