Bis(2,6-dimethyl-pyridinium) hexa-chlorido-platinate(IV).

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(7)H(10)N)(2)[PtCl(6)], contains one independent protonated 2,6-dimethyl-pyridinium cation and half of a centrosymmetric [PtCl(6)](2-) anion. The Pt atom has an octa-hedral coordination. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a supra-molecular structure. There is a ?-? contact between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 4.235?(1)?Å].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(5)H(5)BrN)(2)[SnCl(6)], contains one cation and one half-anion. The [SnCl(6)](2-) anion is located on an inversion center and forms a quasi-regular octa-hedral arrangement. Hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of two kinds, viz. N-H⋯Cl-Sn and C-H⋯Cl-Sn, along with Cl⋯Br inter-actions [3.4393 (15) Å], connect the ions in the crystal structure into two-dimensional supra-molecular arrays. These supra-molecular arrays are arranged in layers approximately parallel to (110) built up from anions inter-acting with six symmetry-related surrounding cations.

Project description:In the title complex, (NH3OH)2[PtCl6]·2C12H24O6, the Pt(IV) atom is coordinated by six chloride anions in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Pt-Cl bond lengths are comparable to those reported for other hexa-chlorido-platinate(IV) species. The hy-droxy-ammonium groups act as linkers between the [PtCl6](2-) anion and the crown ether mol-ecules. The anion is linked to two hy-droxy-ammonium cations via O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and each hy-droxy-ammonium moiety is linked to a crown ether mol-ecule by hydrogen bonds between ammonium H atoms and 18-crown-6 O atoms. The crown ether mol-ecules have the classic crown shape in which all O atoms are located in the inner part of the crown ether ring and all -CH2- groups are turned to the outside.

The crystal structure is assembled via hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of two kinds, N(pyridine/amine)-H⋯Br-Sn, along with C-Br⋯Br-Sn interactions [3.4925 (19) Å]. The cations are involved in π-π stacking, which adds an extra supra-molecularity as it presents a strong case of offset-face-to-face motifs [centroid-centroid distance = 3.577 (3) Å]. The inter-molecular hydrogen bonds, short Br⋯Br inter-actions and π-π stacking result in the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Project description:In the title mol-ecular salt, (C5H7N2)2[SnCl6], the cation is protonated at the pyridine N atom and the complete dianion is generated by a crystallographic centre of symmetry. In the crystal, N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the components into a three-dimensional network built up from the stacking of alternate cationic and anionic layers. The nature of the inter-molecular inter-actions has been analysed in terms of the Hirshfeld surfaces of the cations and the anions. The thermal behaviour and the Raman spectrum of the title compound are reported.

Project description:The title compound, (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[SnCl(6)], crystallizes with one diisopropyl-ammonium cation lying on a general position and the hexa-chloridostannate(IV) anion about a centre of inversion. The [SnCl(6)](2-) anion undergoes a slight distortion from octa-hedral symmetry as the result of the formation of four unforked charge-supported N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The hydrogen bonds between the cations and anions form layers perpendicular to [101]. These layers are built by 24-membered rings which can be classified with an R(8) (8)(24) graph-set descriptor. According to this hydrogen-bonding motif, the title compound is isostructural with (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[IrCl(6)].

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C(7)H(10)N)(2)[ZnBr(4)], the coordination geometry of the anion is approximately tetra-hedral and a twofold rotation axis passes through the Zn atom. The Zn-Br bond lengths range from 2.400 (2) to 2.408 (3) Å and the Br-Zn-Br angles range from 108.14 (6) to 115.15 (15)°. In the crystal structure, the [ZnBr(4)](2-) anion is connected to two cations through N-H⋯Br and H(2)C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional cation-anion-cation layers normal to the b axis. No significant Br⋯Br inter-actions [the shortest being 4.423 (4) Å] are observed in the structure.
