Trans-Carbonyl-chloridobis(tri-p-tolyl-phosphine)rhodium(I) acetone solvate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [RhCl(C(21)H(21)P)(2)(CO)]·C(3)H(6)O, was precipitated in trace yield from a reaction of RhCl(cod)(THP) with P(p-tol)(3) in a 1:1 acetone-d(6)/CD(3)OD solution under a hydrogen atmosphere [p-tol = p-tolyl, THP = tris-(hydroxy-meth-yl)phosphine, P(CH(2)OH)(3), and cod = 1,5-cyclo-octa-diene]. The complex displays a square-planar geometry around the Rh(I) atom. The complex mol-ecules and the acetone mol-ecules are linked into a chain along the a axis by inter-molecular C-H?Cl and C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The chloride and carbonyl ligands show positional disorder, and the Rh(I) atom lies on a center of inversion. The effective cone angle ?(E) for the title compound is 169.0?(3)°. There are no significant inter-molecular inter-actions.

Project description:The title rhodium Vaska-type complex, trans-[RhCl{P(C(6)H(11))(2)(C(6)H(4)-4-C(3)H(7))(2)}(2)(CO)], crystallizes with an accompanying acetone solvent mol-ecule. The metal atom shows a distorted square-planar coordination environment with selected important geometrical parameters of Rh-P = 2.3237 (6) and 2.3253 (6) Å, Rh-Cl = 2.3724 (6) Å, Rh-C = 1.802 (2) Å, P-Rh-P = 173.42 (2)° and Cl-Rh-C = 179.13 (7)°. Effective cone angles for the two P atoms are 165 and 161°, respectively. Both isopropyl groups and the acetone mol-ecule are disordered with occupancy values of 0.523 (5):0.477 (5), 0.554 (8):0.446 (8) and 0.735 (4):0.265 (4), respectively. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl contacts.

Project description:In the title compound, [Rh(C(13)H(16)NO)(C(18)H(15)P)(CO)]·0.5C(3)H(6)O, the Rh atom exhibits a square-planar coordination geometry, being coordinated by the N and O atoms of the bidentate ?-diketonato ligand, a P atom from the triphenyl-phosphine unit and a C atom from the carbonyl group. The asymmetric unit also contains a disordered half-mol-ecule, lying about an inversion center, of the acetone solvate. Inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed between a C-H group of the triphenyl-phosphine unit and a carbonyl O atom and between the methyl group of the enamino-ketonato backbone and the solvent O atom. In addition, an intra-molecular inter-action is observed between a C-H group of the triphenyl-phosphine unit and the O atom of the enamino-ketonato ligand.

Project description:The title complex, [RhCl(C(21)H(21)O(3)P)(2)(CO)], is a rhodium analogue to Vaska's complex with para-meth-oxy substituents on the six phosphan-yl-aryl units. Two independent mol-ecules are present in the unit cell, with their metal atoms both located on an inversion centre. This causes the chloride and carbonyl ligands to exhibit a positional disorder in a 0.5:0.5 ratio. The two Rh(I) atoms exhibit a distorted square-planar geometry. There are a few weak intra-molecular C-H?X inter-actions (X = O, Cl). Inter-estingly, no significant inter-molecular inter-actions are found between the two independent mol-ecules.
