Catena-Poly[[chloridocopper(II)]bis-(μ-3,3',5,5'-tetra-methyl-4,4'-methylene-dipyrazole)[chloridocopper(II)]-di-μ-chlorido].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Cu(2)Cl(4)(C(11)H(16)N(4))](n), the Cu atom is coordinated by two N atoms of two 3,3',5,5'-tetra-methyl-4,4'-methyl-enedipyrazole (H(2)mbdpz) ligands, two bridging Cl atoms and one terminal Cl atom, forming a square-pyramidal geometry. The bridging Cl atoms and the bridging H(2)mbdpz ligands connect the Cu atoms to build up an extended one-dimensional chain. The chains are further connected through N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds to build up a two-dimensional layer in the (011) plane. An inversion centre lies between every pair of adjacent Cu atoms.

Project description:The structure of the centrosymmetric title compound, [Cu(2)Cl(6)(C(10)H(15)N(4))(2)]·2H(2)O, consists of a dimeric [{(HMe(4)bpz)CuCl(3)}(2)] unit (HMe(4)bpz is 3,3',5,5'-tetra-methyl-4,4'-bipyrazol-1-ium) with two solvent water molecules. Each [HMe(4)bpz](+) cation is bonded to a CuCl(3) unit through a Cu-N dative bond, effectively making square-planar geometry at the Cu atom. Two of these units then undergo a face-to-face dimerization so that the Cu atoms have a Jahn-Teller distorted square-pyramidal geometry with three chlorides and an N atom in the basal plane and one chloride weakly bound in the apical position. Several N-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title complex, {(C(2)H(8)N)[CuCl(2)(N(3))]}(n), exhibits inorganic chains consisting of Cu(II) cations as well azide and chloride anions. The chains, made up from Cu-Cl-Cu-N-Cu linkages, are aligned parallel to the c axis. This architecture is further stabilized by a number of N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds involving the protonated charge-compensating dimethyl-amine cations and chloride atoms.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)Cl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2)O(4))(2)]·4C(3)H(7)NO, which contains a chloride-bridged centrosymmetric Cu(II) dimer, the Cu(II) atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal 4 + 1 coordination geometry defined by the N atoms of the chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, a terminal chloride and two bridging chloride ligands. Of the two independent dimethyl-formamide mol-ecules, one is hydrogen bonded to a single -COOH group, while one links two adjacent -COOH groups via a strong accepted O-H?O and a weak donated C(O)-H?O hydrogen bond. Two of these last mol-ecules and the two -COOH groups form a centrosymmetric hydrogen-bonded ring in which the CH=O and the -COOH groups by disorder adopt two alternate orientations in a 0.44:0.56 ratio. These hydrogen bonds link the Cu(II) complex mol-ecules and the dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecules into infinite chains along [-111]. Slipped ?-? stacking inter-actions between two centrosymmetric pyridine rings (centroid-centroid distance = 3.63?Å) contribute to the coherence of the structure along [0-11].

The Zn(II) ion exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry in which the four water mol-ecules are in the equatorial positions. The anions are hydrogen bonded to the polycationic chains by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The Zn(II) ion, 4,4'-bipy ligand and anion lie on special positions of 2/m site symmetry.

The two pyridine rings of the 4,4'-biyridine are twisted to each other by a dihedral angle of 8.95 (9)°. Extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding network is present in the crystal structure.
